What if you could inspect a confined space without sending someone inside?

Tanks, vessels, silos, stacks, and other confined spaces still need to be inspected. Putting people inside them can mean additional planning, permits, equipment, downtime, and most importantly, risk.

That’s where the Scout 137 changes the equation.

Built for operations in GPS-denied environments, the Scout 137 allows our team to capture detailed inspection data while keeping personnel outside the asset. With 128-beam LiDAR and optional ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurements, we can collect more than just video. We can build a clearer picture of asset condition and give inspection teams the information they need to make decisions.

For facility owners and inspection teams, the goal is simple: reduce exposure, minimize downtime, and collect better data.

See inside. Stay outside.

300,000 Images Captured During an Autonomous Hydropower Dam Inspection via Drone. (links to the video below)

A recent ScoutDI case study shows what's possible when autonomous drone inspections are combined with high-quality data collection.

At a hydropower dam in Sweden, the Scout 137 Drone System helped:
• Capture 300,000+ location-tagged, high-resolution images
• Increase inspection efficiency by approximately 50%
• Save more than 40 working days
• Eliminate the need for scaffolding and work at height
• Create a repeatable 3D model that allows engineers to compare crack progression over time

The biggest takeaway isn't just that the inspection was faster.

It's that asset owners now have a consistent digital record they can use to monitor structural changes year after year, making maintenance decisions based on data instead of assumptions.

This is where autonomous inspection is headed: safer operations, better documentation, and repeatable results for critical infrastructure.

As ScoutDI's U.S. partner, we're excited to help bring this capability to infrastructure owners across North America.

Why Distance Lock matters during an inspection

Flying inside a large storage tank isn't like flying outdoors.
There's no GPS.
The surfaces curve.
And manually maintaining the same distance from the wall for an entire inspection is incredibly difficult.

That's where Distance Lock comes in.

Distance Lock allows ScoutDI to automatically maintain a consistent stand-off distance from the surface being inspected while the operator focuses on the mission. Instead of constantly making small corrections to stay the same distance from the wall, the system helps keep that spacing consistent throughout the inspection.

Why does that matter?
A consistent distance means:
✔ More consistent image quality
✔ Better overlap between images
✔ More repeatable inspections
✔ More confidence when comparing inspections over time

It's not about making the drone fly itself.

It's about reducing one of the pilot's biggest workloads so they can focus on collecting high-quality inspection data.

Technology should help the operator—not replace them.

That's exactly what Distance Lock is designed to do.

Question for the industry:
What part of an internal inspection is the hardest to perform consistently from one inspection to the next?

Why fly the same inspection twice... differently?

Imagine inspecting the same storage tank every year.
If every flight is flown manually, the path, camera angle, and image spacing will naturally vary.

That makes it harder to compare today's inspection with last year's.

Automatic Surface Scan changes that.

Instead of manually flying every pass, the operator defines the inspection area and the ScoutDI follows a consistent scan pattern while maintaining a constant distance from the surface—even on curved tank walls. The pilot remains in control, monitoring coverage, image count, elapsed time, and the drone's position throughout the inspection.

The result isn't just easier flying.
It's more consistent data.

And when inspections are repeatable, comparing asset condition over time becomes much more meaningful.

That's the real value of automation.
It's not about replacing the pilot.

It's about giving inspection teams a repeatable workflow that supports better long-term asset management.

Question for the industry:
How important is repeatability when you're comparing inspection results year after year?

Excited to have AC Lockyer with SoftWash Systems stop by our headquarters and demo the SoftWash Systems Drone Capable Van platform. The perfect combination for keeping operators safely on the ground while keeping the ability to clean those hard-to-reach places.

What used to take weeks, now can take days. Reducing costs on rentals, equipment, and labor.

Here's a look at our recent work at Kent State University with SoftWash Systems.

By keeping operators safely on the ground and putting the aircraft to work, we were able to help improve efficiency, reduce worker exposure to heights, and minimize disruption around active campus facilities.

At Aero Velocity, we see drones as a smarter way to execute.

Take exterior cleaning.

What used to require lifts, staging, and added risk can now be done faster, safer, and with less complexity.

We’re seeing that shift happen in real time.

And it’s a sign of something bigger. A move toward smarter, more efficient ways to manage assets at scale.
