Loran Williams and Allyson York had the opportunity to represent Ascendum yesterday at the NFL College Outreach event at the University of Cincinnati, connecting with student-athletes as they explore their futures both on and off the field.

While many of these talented young men are pursuing their dream of playing in the NFL, the event focused on helping them prepare for long-term success by exploring career opportunities, building professional networks, and learning how their skills can translate into the corporate world.

They were incredibly impressed by the students they met. They were professional, engaged, respectful, and genuinely interested in learning about career paths beyond football. The Ascendum table stayed busy throughout the event, and we had some fantastic conversations about technology, consulting, professional development, and life after sports.

Thank you to the organizers, the University of Cincinnati, and the NFL College Outreach team for creating such a valuable experience.

Two hundred fifty years ago, fifty-six people signed their names to a document that didn't just declare independence, it declared a belief.

A belief that people could govern themselves. That liberty was worth the risk. That a better future was worth building, even when no one could promise what it would look like.

That belief became a nation. And a quarter of a millennium later, it's still being tested, defended, and renewed by every generation that inherits it.

250 years is a milestone that few nations ever reach. It's a reminder that what started in 1776 was never finished, it’s still being written, by all of us, every day.

This Independence Day, as we celebrate a quarter-millennium of the American story, I want to wish every Ascendum employee and client a wonderful holiday weekend filled with family, friends, good food, and a little inspiration from the bold idea that started it all.
