That’s a wrap on an incredible {build} Hackathon 2026! 🎬✨

For six intense weeks, 1,147 GovTechies across 270 teams went all in to tackle real-world challenges faced by citizens, business and public officers. Working closely with our agency partners such as Ministry of Education, Singapore and MSF Singapore. Teams tested and refined their solutions through feedback bazaars, user-testing sessions and surveys, before the grand finale. This collaborative spirit ensured that every prototype was built with real impact in mind.

The hackathon might be over, but the journey of innovation continues! Our newly established GovTech Innovation Office will now guide selected teams through incubation, helping them scale these prototypes into real products and systems. 🚀

🤖 AI is being integrated into Singapore's public service to enhance efficiency and security for public officers.

GovTech is developing the AI Assistant Desk, which includes a new registry of AI agents. This initiative aims to provide 150,000 public officers with secure tools to streamline tasks. The AI Assistant Desk is currently in development and testing, with a wider roll-out planned for later this year.

Practical applications of AI are already emerging. Markly, an AI marking assistant developed during GovTech's {build} hackathon, is being trialled in 18 schools to help teachers. Similarly, LangBuddy, an AI chatbot also from the hackathon, is assisting 300 students from 10 schools in learning their mother tongue.

Furthermore, AI-driven cybersecurity measures, such as automated pe*******on testing and advanced threat detection, are continuously protecting government systems and citizen data. This comprehensive approach supports the national goal of building AI fluency across the public sector.

“The fight against scams is a marathon, not a sprint. It requires both technological capability and unwavering teamwork,” shared Chia Hann, Assistant Director of GovTech’s Singpass Trust & Safety (Cybersecurity Operations) team.

At GovTech, the Singpass Trust and Safety, Government Anti-Scam Products (GASP), and ScamShield teams work closely with the Singapore Police Force to strengthen Singapore’s fight against scams.

From using machine learning to detect suspicious Singpass account activities, to disrupting suspicious websites through SATIS, and leaning on the collective efforts of the user community to report scams via ScamShield, this coordinated approach helps stay ahead of evolving scam tactics.

The impact is clear: more than 4,600 fraudulently created financial accounts were terminated in 2025, up from 2,000 in the year before, demonstrating the effectiveness of strong partnerships, technology and community vigilance.
