The Reality of Staff Shortages in the F&B Industry
Running a restaurant during peak hours is demanding.
Long queues become common because only one or two cashiers are available to take orders. Customers spend more time waiting, which can lead to frustration or even cause them to leave before ordering.
Inside the kitchen, chefs receive orders later than expected because the cashier is still serving the previous customer. This delays food preparation and affects overall service speed.
Employees also feel the pressure. They are expected to greet customers, answer questions, take orders, process payments, handle complaints, and keep the dining area clean, all within a short period of time.
Over time, this constant pressure can lead to stress, burnout, and higher staff turnover.
Staff shortages are likely to remain one of the biggest challenges facing the restaurant industry. While technology cannot completely replace a dedicated team, it can significantly reduce operational pressure and improve efficiency. ππ»
