Codestone has been shortlisted for 12 award categories this year, across 5 industry programmes.

• CRN Channel Awards: Reseller of the Year (up to £100m), Cloud Services Reseller/Partner of the Year and Best DE&I Project/Initiative of the Year
• South Coast Tech & Innovation Awards: South Coast Tech Company of the Year, High Growth Tech Company of the Year, Large Tech Enterprise of the Year, Tech for Good Award and Tech Employer of the Year
• Business Culture Awards: Business Transformation Award and Culture Alignment Award
• CRN Women & Diversity in Channel Awards: Cultural Inclusion Company of the Year
• Personnel Today Awards: HR Team of the Year

Different judges and different criteria, but there’s a common thread running through them: a business that’s grown fast without losing sight of what makes people want to work here and clients want to stay with us.

We know a shortlist isn’t a win, but with the calibre and number of entries these awards attract, getting this far is something worth celebrating. Winners are announced throughout the autumn, so we’ll be sure to share if we come home with any gold.

Well done and thank you to every team whose work sits behind these nominations.

Some buyers still treat SAP Business One as a side note in SAP's roadmap. More than 1,000 partners worldwide sell and support it, and it sits at the centre of SAP's long-term strategy for small and mid-sized businesses.

You are choosing a platform your business will run on for years, backed by that scale of investment for as long as you need it.

IT leaders often assume SAP Cloud ERP means hiring a bigger technical team to keep it running, when what usually happens is the reverse.

Updates, security patches and version management sit with SAP rather than with your team. There is no infrastructure to maintain and no upgrade project every few years, so the work that used to eat a chunk of an IT team's time comes off their desk.

What is left is the work only your team can do, because they are the ones who understand how the business runs: process improvement, integration, reporting. A managed service should leave that team more capable rather than more dependent, which means the fair measure of one is how much your people can handle a year in rather than how many tickets somebody closed.

That is the tenth myth in this series, and probably the one that comes up last in most conversations, once cost, fit and complexity have already been ruled out. If headcount has been the reason to hold off on SAP Cloud ERP, that is no longer the blocker it used to be.

All 10 myths, with the reality behind each one, are in the eBook. Link in the comments.

Ask a finance team what makes month end long and it is rarely the accounting itself, it is the reconciliation, the unmatched items nobody can explain, and the scramble to produce something an auditor will accept. Our 20 minutes with Embat on 10 September covers that ground: automated bank feeds, AI matching, exception management for what needs a human, and audit-ready dashboards consolidated across entities and currencies.

David Knight, Principal Presales Consultant at Codestone, and Theo Wasserberg, Head of Embat UK, are presenting.

The cost of staying on the wrong ERP rarely shows up on a single invoice. It shows up as the extra person covering manual work, the report that takes 3 systems to build, and the problems nobody can point to because nothing lines up enough to see them. Put data, processes and reporting into one system and the problems become visible, which is the point at which you can do something about them.

The system will not do that part for you. Someone still has to decide which processes are worth changing, and that decision is where the value is won or lost. The most common thing we hear from clients afterwards is that they wish they had done it sooner.

The eBook covers where that value shows up in SAP Cloud ERP. Link in the comments.

UK finance leaders are heading into 2026 more optimistic than their global peers, and the gap is wider than you would expect.

In Wolters Kluwer's 2026 Future Ready CFO Report, 94% of UK respondents named developing finance talent and digital skills as the most effective way to reduce disruption, against 86% globally. The UK also scored higher on data governance, security and infrastructure, 94% against 85%, and on collaboration between the CTO, CFO, CIO and CSO, 90% against 84%.

The number that complicates the picture sits a few pages later. Only 19% of UK finance functions describe their digital maturity as advanced, and 42% are still at basic or early stage. Ambition is running ahead of capability, which is an uncomfortable position when 53% of finance leaders expect AI to be the most influential force on their own role.

Closing that gap has less to do with picking tools than with knowing which part of the finance operation is holding the rest back. The UK regional cut is worth 20 minutes if you are building a finance transformation case this year. Link in the comments.

Payment runs are the part of the finance week nobody puts on a job description. Log into each bank, check what cleared, match it back against the ledger, then chase the handful that will not match.

Codestone and Embat are running a 20-minute session on 10 September on what changes when that work stops being manual. David Knight, Principal Presales Consultant at Codestone, and Theo Wasserberg, Head of Embat UK, are presenting. Embat's platform syncs with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, pulling live feeds from banks, credit cards and PSPs, executing and tracking payments from one place, and matching transactions to invoices with AI rather than by eye. It connects to more than 15,000 banks and financial products.

Businesses running it automate up to 90% of payment and reconciliation tasks. The practical effect is a cash position you can trust on any given morning rather than the one you built yesterday.

Finance directors ask us the same question before every SAP Cloud ERP conversation: where is the proof this pays back?

The honest answer is that most of the return is measurable and some of it never gets measured. Faster month end closes, less manual reconciliation, and decisions made from one version of the truth rather than 3 spreadsheets that disagree with each other, all of that usually shows up inside the first year and can be counted. What usually goes uncounted is the second year, when the hours that went on reconciling numbers go on deciding what to do about them instead.

That gap matters while you are still writing the business case, because nobody gets credit for a return that was never measured. Agree up front which numbers you will hold the programme to, and who owns them after go-live.

If ROI has been the sticking point in your business case, the eBook walks through where the return comes from. Link in the comments.

Ask someone why they ruled out SAP Business One for AI and most point to a reputation rather than a roadmap.

The businesses getting value from AI are usually the ones whose core data was already in a fit state to use, rather than the ones with the cleverest tools. That makes the useful question about your ERP less about the AI features it lists and more about whether it gives you a foundation worth building on. SAP Business One has kept pace, integrating with AI, automation and the emerging tools finance and operations teams are already asking for.

The platform you choose now should still be letting you say yes to things in 2 years, rather than explaining why you cannot.

Most growing manufacturers already have the data to see a stock shortage coming. It sits in production and inventory systems that do not talk to each other, so problems surface as reactions rather than warnings.

Getting ahead of that does not need another system, it needs the ones you already own to agree with each other. That is what this clip from our Beyond Power BI session covers, with Microsoft Fabric joining the order book, inventory and run-rate data you already hold.

Instead of finding out next week you were short last Tuesday, you see it coming while there is still time to act.
