Parallel and waterline patterns are robust and simple, but the distance between cuts depends on the surface curvature. On steep walls, freeform areas and undercuts, that shows up as uneven spacing between passes.

Geodesic Machining from ModuleWorks measures distances on the surface itself, using a global distance field with no fixed direction. Cuts keep a consistent distance, even in undercut areas. Offset and morph patterns run from single, multiple or automatically created guide curves, and the strategy also works on mesh data such as scans.

Sharp edges, razor-sharp burrs, and a deburring toolpath calculated from the part geometry.
How do you deburr today?

Burrs form wherever the tool leaves a sharp edge. They are razor sharp, they can affect how the part works, and on many parts they are still removed manually once the program has finished.

The ModuleWorks deburring toolpath calculates edge machining from the part geometry. It detects the edges automatically, lets programmers filter out holes by diameter and exclude vertical edges, and places one or several cuts along an edge to approximate a chamfer or a fillet. Linking, lead-ins and collision checking are automated, and the edge order follows the machining direction or a sequence the programmer sets.

At IMTS, we spoke with Jon Heddleson, General Manager of FANUC America, about the role of simulation and programming in bringing parts from the digital environment to the machine with greater confidence.

How does the partnership between FANUC and ModuleWorks support a faster path from design to manufacturing? Which risks can be addressed before a part reaches the machine? And what could this mean for manufacturers looking to optimise setup and production workflows?

Watch the interview to hear Jon’s perspective on the collaboration, CNC Reflection Studio and the future of digital machine simulation.

What if your CNC machine could see a collision coming and stop before it happens?

Not every move on a machine can be checked in advance. Manual jogging during setup, wrong tool lengths and mistyped offsets can still end in an expensive crash.

The ModuleWorks Collision Avoidance System (CAS) runs a digital twin of your machine right on the CNC controller. It uses the real data on the control and the controller's look-ahead, which predicts the moves that come next. If CAS sees a collision ahead, it stops the machine before contact.

What that means for your shop floor:

• Protection in JOG, MDI and Auto mode
• Fewer costly breakdowns and production stops
• Simple setup workflows that make the operator's job easier
• A short learning curve for your team

Protect your machines, your schedule and your people.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿

Buying more printers doesn't scale Additive Manufacturing. Orchestrating them does.

Printing farms are becoming essential for lights-out, high-throughput AM. But as fleets grow, the challenge shifts: from running individual machines to keeping toolpath, material, and quality consistent across all of them, with automated part handover along the way.

That's where software becomes decisive.

With our experience in multi-axis toolpath development, we help OEMs build scalable, (semi-)automated printing ecosystems that connect printing, machining, and inspection.

How do you ensure consistent quality and seamless integration across your entire fleet? For us, it starts with one software layer governing toolpath and process logic across every machine, instead of managing each printer as its own island.

Always happy to exchange insights on printing-farm automation and hybrid-workflow integration - drop a comment or send us a message!

Simulation is essential. But when it takes too long, it often becomes the last step before release.

GPU Simulation by ModuleWorks helps change that. By accelerating high-fidelity material removal and collision detection on the GPU, it makes verification practical throughout the CAM programming process, not only at the end.

The result: more frequent checks, faster iterations, earlier problem detection, and more confident machining decisions.

In high-mix manufacturing, manual G-code input and rigid cycles keep machines waiting instead of cutting.

Next Generation Shopfloor Programming (NGSP) by ModuleWorks brings guided, touch-based programming directly onto the CNC control. In internal ModuleWorks benchmarks, NGSP demonstrates measurable productivity gains for supported milling workflows:

• Up to 70% faster programming compared to standard G-code
• Up to 50% faster programming compared to traditional conversational methods
• Seamless transition from 3D CAD models to verified operations

For CNC control makers and machine tool builders, NGSP bridges the gap between job intent and ex*****on. It enables operators to generate validated, collision-free toolpaths directly at the machine controller, reducing setup times and minimizing manual errors.

Program faster. Cut smarter. Right at the machine.
