We have some exciting news to share! 🎉
The accessibility audit and remediation phase for the cycos website is officially complete, and our platform now partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards.

Driven by our commitment to digital inclusion, we’ve worked hard to eliminate barriers and optimize the experience for assistive technologies like screen readers and magnifiers. For full transparency, the few remaining non-conformances, including legacy pre-2026 PDF documents and specific browser-level bugs, are detailed in our updated accessibility statement.

But accessibility is a journey, not a static goal. We are continuously learning, testing, and refining our processes to keep improving.

If you encounter any issues or barriers while navigating our site, please reach out. Your feedback helps us grow!

Another fantastic team event in the books! 🙌 We had an absolute blast running the Aachener Firmenlauf today. A bit unusual to hit the track in July instead of September, but the sunny, mild weather was absolutely perfect for it. ☀️
So proud of the whole crew for showing up, pushing hard, and bringing the energy!

The recipe for AI over the last decade has been straightforward: feed bigger models more data. But what happens when we run out of high-quality human text to imitate?

At next month's WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin, cycos developer Kamen Petroff will tackle the "Data Wall" myth head-on. Kamen's session will trace the evolution of language modeling from Word2Vec and Transformers straight into the massive paradigm shift happening right now with reasoning models like OpenAI o1 and DeepSeek R1.

Discover why the future of software development belongs to Verifiable Reasoning, how compute is shifting from training to inference, and why the "AI Winter" is officially cancelled. If you want to understand how the developer's role is evolving from writing syntax to architecting the feedback loops that guide AI reasoning, this is a session you cannot miss.

Let's meet in Berlin! 🤖

Berlin calling! Next month, cycos is heading to the WeAreDevelopers World Congress, and we are thrilled to have our own Jörg Jakoby taking the stage.

If you have ever tried to fix accessibility issues right before a major release, you know it is a recipe for stress. Jörg is going to show you a better way by shifting accessibility to the left. In his session, he will break down how to move from manual afterthoughts to systematic verification using unit checks like jasmine-axe, jest-axe, and vitest-axe, alongside realistic end-to-end scans with Cypress and Playwright.

It is not just a talk about tools; it is about building robust routines. Jörg will share practical insights on choosing the right test scopes, handling exceptions with clear expiration dates, and establishing CI/CD gate rules that keep development sustainable and genuinely inclusive.

See you in Berlin! 🚀

Accessibility is a fundamental pillar of software quality, but it doesn’t have to be a manual burden.

In a new feature on the Atos blog, cycos experts Jörg Jakoby and Michaël Vanderheyden break down how to effectively integrate accessibility checks into the CI pipeline.

The key is efficiency: by extending the test automation tools already in your setup, you can catch regressions early and maintain high standards with low effort. While automation is only one part of the puzzle, it is a critical step toward sustainable, inclusive development.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our colleague, Nina, for her recently published article on SIGS.de! 👏

In her piece, "Automated Tests Reality Check: An Accessibility Audit," Nina dives deep into the technical journey of our recent website relaunch. She explores a critical question in modern web development: How does automated testing truly stack up against a professional accessibility audit?

Key Takeaways:
- Architecture as Prevention: How a "Minimal-JavaScript" approach and semantic HTML act as a structural safety net.
- Scalable Testing: Moving from individual test files to a "Single Source of Truth" using Sitemaps and Playwright.
- The "Reality Check": While tools like Axe Core caught a vast majority of technical issues, the external audit revealed that context is king. Automated tools can check if an image has an alt-tag, but they can't yet judge if that image provides vital information to a user.

The Tech Stack:
Nina’s work integrated Astro, Playwright, Axe Core, and Lighthouse into a seamless CI/CD pipeline—ensuring accessibility is a "Quality Gate," not an afterthought.
Congratulations, Nina, on this fantastic contribution to the dev community! It’s great to see your expertise in automated QA and inclusive design getting the spotlight it deserves.

Last week, we traded our keyboards for game boards at our latest event! 🎲

The theme was Game Day, and the office was buzzing with energy. Whether it was rediscovering timeless classics, diving into new favorites, or jumping into digitally assisted competitions, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Beyond the snacks and the scores, events like these are essential for sparking the creativity, collaboration, and open communication that drive us forward. It’s amazing how a simple afternoon of play can strengthen team bonds and build such a positive atmosphere. 🧡

A huge thank you to everyone who brought in their favorite games and shared their afternoon with us. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

We were thrilled to participate in this year’s Girls' Day! It was a pleasure to host a talented 6th-grade student for a one-day internship at cycos, providing a hands-on look at the world of technology and system integration.

The day was packed with learning and creativity. Our guest dove straight into the fundamentals of development and IT infrastructure:
- Game Development: Building a classic "Snake" game using Scratch.
- Web Development: Coding her very first personal website using HTML.
- System Integration: Getting under the hood of a computer to install an operating system.
- Networking: Exploring the "how" behind the internet and network functionality.

Events like Girls' Day are vital for breaking down gender stereotypes and showing young students that technical and scientific fields are open to everyone. We are proud to support the next generation as they explore their interests and discover their potential in tech.

A huge thank you to our participant for her curiosity and hard work. The future of IT looks bright! 🚀

Big things are happening at cycos! We’re thrilled to announce that our four trainees are joining forces for their most ambitious project yet.

Moving beyond individual learning tasks, they are tackling a complete rewrite of one of our legacy apps from the ground up! This isn’t just about coding; they are owning the entire lifecycle, from planning and API definition to selecting a modern tech stack and final implementation.

What makes this project special:
- Accessibility First: A core focus on inclusive design and a top-tier user experience.
- Mentorship in Action: Our second-year trainees are stepping up to mentor our first-years.
- Agile Excellence: The team will be running a full Scrum process to stay lean and collaborative.

We can’t wait to see how they transform this app with fresh perspectives and modern tech. Stay tuned for updates on their journey! 💻

In a world where JavaScript Frameworks come and go, we’ve been quietly proving the power of the "Vanilla" web. For the past five years, a dedicated team at cycos has been building and scaling a complex client project using nothing but pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Why skip the frameworks?

- Ultimate Stability: By building on the "natural evolution" of the web, we avoid the cycle of breaking changes and deprecations.

- High Performance: Using WebSockets for real-time eventing and Canvas for complex rendering allows us to achieve incredible speed and fluid movement without the overhead of heavy libraries.

- Future-Proofing: The code we wrote five years ago is just as relevant today because it relies on the core standards of the browser.

It’s refreshing, it’s robust, and it’s a testament to the fact that sometimes, the best tool for the job is the foundation itself.
