Speed gets measured a lot in clinic operations — how quickly a call gets picked up, how fast someone gets back to a patient. It's a fair thing to track, but it only tells half the story.
A call can be answered in seconds and still leave a stack of follow-up work behind it: a note to book the appointment later, a chart to update, a callback to make once someone has five free minutes. That work doesn't disappear just because the phone got answered quickly. It just moves to a to-do list.
The more useful measure is whether a call is actually finished by the time it ends, not just acknowledged. Those are two different outcomes that can look identical in a call log.
How many "quick calls" at your practice turn into two or three more tasks later in the day?
