EngView's packaging industry product, EngView Package & Display Designer Suite, is a CAD/CAM system for structural packaging design based on sheet materials, with a focus on carton, corrugated, plastic and rigid board. Responding to daily concerns of aluminum extrusion companies to find quick and reliable solutions to storage search, EngView Systems has developed the inventory-scanning application ENGVIEW ALEX. It helps extruders locate backers and bolsters in large databases. The found tools are reused, thereby generating significant economic advantages by sparing companies the investment in manufacturing new ones. EngView Systems believes in the value of spreading engineering knowledge. Since its first days the company has been following a worldwide software donation policy to educational establishments. Packaging approval process should be simple, not buried in endless email threads 📩

It was a pleasure to welcome our colleagues, Jayce Hanchette and James Smiley, from the EngView Systems US office, to our headquarters in Bulgaria!

Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the connection between our teams, exchange knowledge, and just spend valuable time together. Jayce and James participated in intensive training sessions led by our experts, explored our latest solutions and workflows, and shared their experience from working closely with customers in the US market.

Of course, the visit was not only about training. They also had the chance to experience the warmth of Bulgarian hospitality and discover some of the country’s rich cultural heritage.

In Plovdiv, one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, they travelled through history - from the time of the Thracians and Romans to the present day - and enjoyed a memorable performance of the musical HAIR at the magnificent Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis, built in the 1st century AD.

Most importantly, the visit brought us together, encouraged new conversations, and helped us grow stronger as one international EngView team.

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation is set to change how packaging is designed, produced, used and managed across Europe.

The PPWR will generally apply from 12 August 2026, with additional requirements being introduced progressively through 2040.

Packaging producers, converters, brand owners, importers, retailers and e-commerce businesses will need to prepare for changes including:

♻️ New recyclability requirements
📦 Reduced packaging weight, volume and empty space
🔄 Reuse and refill obligations
🧴 Mandatory recycled content in plastic packaging
🏷️ Harmonised EU labelling
📄 Stronger technical documentation and conformity requirements
⚠️ Restrictions on PFAS in food-contact packaging

Many of these requirements begin with better packaging design.
