Do small businesses actually need the security features built into enterprise-grade printers, or is that just a sales line to justify a bigger price tag?

The honest answer sits somewhere in between. Small businesses genuinely are a disproportionate target for cybercriminals, not despite their size, but often because of it, attackers assume weaker defences and no dedicated IT security team watching for gaps. A printer that stores scanned documents and sits connected to the network is a real, if easily overlooked, point of exposure.

At the same time, not every small business faces the same risk. A landscaping business printing invoices carries a different exposure to a medical practice or law firm handling sensitive personal data daily.
