Every student interaction tells part of a story. The challenge is that in many schools, those pieces of information live in different places.

A student signs out for an appointment. Transportation arrangements change. A roll call is missed. A medication needs to be administered. Parents are waiting for an update.

When these processes are managed through disconnected systems, staff spend valuable time searching for information instead of acting on it.

That's why layering modules works really well. When Student Locator, Leave Management, Rollcall, Transportation, Communication, Wellbeing, Medication Management, and Emergency Response work together in a single platform, every action creates context for the next one.

The result isn't just greater efficiency. It's a stronger oversight. Faster response times.
More informed decisions. Greater confidence that every student is accounted for throughout the day.

Student life teams don't need more systems to manage. They need a complete picture inside one trusted platform.

On the latest episode of Roll Call, Brian and Josh sit down with Dr. Susan Baldridge, Executive Director of TABSorg - The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), to explore what the future of boarding schools looks like in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

From faculty burnout and evolving workforce expectations to international enrollment, residential life, and student wellness, Susan shares what school leaders are seeing on the ground and where boarding education is headed next.

One of the most compelling questions from the conversation:

As information becomes easier to access, do the uniquely human aspects of education become even more valuable?

🎙️ Tune in for insights on:
- The changing role of faculty and residential staff
- AI's impact on education and student development
- Staff wellness and retention challenges
- Enrollment trends and global shifts

If you're thinking about leadership, education, or the future of student life, this conversation is worth your time.

The scope of student life has expanded well beyond the classroom. Today it includes athletics, co-curricular programs, after-school activities, and residential life, all while expectations around communication, visibility, and risk management continue to rise.

That’s exactly what Brian will be diving into at FACTS Elevate 2026 this July in Orlando.

In his session, Navigating Student Life: Proactive Strategies for Risk Mitigation, Communication, and Student Well-Being, Brian will explore how schools can move from reactive problem-solving to proactive student support through stronger processes, clearer communication, and better operational visibility across campus life.

The conversation will draw from real-world experiences working with more than 650 schools worldwide and the practical realities school leaders are navigating every day.

If you’re attending Elevate, we hope you’ll join the conversation!

With team members spread across the globe, opportunities to connect in person are always valuable. Earlier this month, Ellen and Ben visited the Windsor office for a series of collaborative sessions focused on new features, interface design, and the future of R5.

As the Student Life landscape continues to evolve, these face-to-face sessions created space for thoughtful conversations around usability, workflow efficiency, and how technology can better support the day-to-day realities of student life teams.
“Some of the best product decisions happen when people are in the same room challenging ideas, sharing perspectives, and thinking through real-world workflows together,” says Nic, VP of Product. “These sessions helped us refine not just what we’re building in R5, but why we’re building it. Always with the goal of making life easier for student life teams and creating more time for meaningful student support.”

From reducing administrative friction to improving how information flows across campus, every discussion centered around one goal: building tools that help schools spend less time managing systems and more time supporting students.

Moments like these are a great reminder that collaboration remains at the heart of innovation, and we’re excited for the next chapter of Reach. Goose, the office dog, also made sure to say hello throughout the week!

No matter where you are in the school year, there’s always an opportunity to streamline operations, strengthen student support and prepare more intentionally for what comes next.

As schools across North America and Europe wrap up the academic year, summer becomes one of the most valuable times to reflect, reset and improve systems that support daily life on campus.

Whether you’re looking to optimize your current workflows, expand the use of Reach across your campus, or explore new modules, now is the ideal time to address operational gaps before the next school year begins.

Here is how Reach can help you build an even stronger foundation for the next school year:
• Enhancing a stronger culture of safety
• Modernizing dismissal and transportation management
• Simplifying visitor and leave management
• Supporting extracurricular engagement and student wellbeing

Every student. Every day. Every moment covered. What operational challenge is your team hoping to improve before the next school year begins?

Graduation season often focuses on the students crossing the stage, as it should.

But behind every tassel turned is a network of educators, advisors, dorm staff, counsellors, nurses, and administrators who supported the journey long before this moment!

The late check-ins.
The quiet conversations.
The attendance patterns that needed attention.
The moments of encouragement when things felt hard.
The steady, coordinated care that rarely gets seen.

Student success is never built alone. Thank you to the student life teams whose work often happens behind the scenes but is felt in every step students take toward graduation.

Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us of something educators already know well: student wellbeing rarely announces itself all at once.

More often, it appears in patterns:
• A few missed meals.
• Repeated absences.
• An increase in late-night sign-outs.
• More frequent visits to the health centre.
• A student slowly disengaging from community life.

Individually, these moments may seem small. Together, they can tell a larger story.

Reach helps schools connect patterns across student life by centralizing information like:
→ Attendance and repeated absences
→ Leave requests and changes in routine
→ Behaviour and incident trends
→ Health Centre visits and Medication Logging
→ Check-ins and engagement patterns
→ Pastoral Notes/Care and cross-department communication

Moving from Awareness to Action: Safeguarding isn’t just a category, it’s a secure, action-based workflow. Reach allows DSLs (Designated Safeguarding Lead) to escalate any pastoral note into a formal safeguarding triage instantly. With enterprise-grade access control, we ensure sensitive investigations remain confidential, keeping the right information in the right hands.

When the right information is visible to the right people, schools are better equipped to notice concerns early, coordinate support, and strengthen safeguarding pathways.

From 250 yards to 3,000 miles away, one thing was clear: when schools come together, powerful ideas follow.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Reach Training Lab, hosted by our friends at The Athenian School.

The day was filled with collaboration, insight, and those “ah-ha” moments that spark real change. From student life to residential life to technology teams, the conversations reinforced a shared goal: supporting student well-being and safety in smarter, more connected ways.

Together, we explored how schools are using Reach to manage the full rhythm of campus life, from the start of the day to the end, while unlocking even more value from the tools already in place.
Looking forward to our next Training Lab!

In this live session, Greg Martin, incoming Senior Organizational Effectiveness Strategist at Mission and Data, will explore the growing disconnect between traditional boarding school roles and today’s workforce expectations.

Drawing on doctoral research and decades of experience, Greg will unpack:
• Why the “triple-threat” model is under increasing strain
• How expectations around workload, balance, and purpose are shifting
• What schools can do to stay competitive while preserving mission-critical roles
• Practical strategies for recruiting, supporting, and retaining student life educators
If your school is navigating staffing challenges across student life, wellness, and duty of care, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.

It’s been a busy and energizing spring for the Reach team across the Americas.

From Columbus to MedellĂn, our team has been on the ground connecting with school leaders and technology professionals shaping the future of student life.

At the ATLIS 2026 Annual Conference, held at the Hilton Columbus Downtown, Brian and Dan joined a vibrant community of independent school tech leaders to explore emerging challenges, share ideas, and discuss how technology continues to support safer, more connected campuses.

Meanwhile, Claudia hosted an executive breakfast in MedellĂn in partnership with PowerSchool, bringing together school leaders for a focused conversation on the future of school management. Set at the Wake Bio Hotel, the event sparked thoughtful discussion around innovation, efficiency, and student-centered systems.

Grateful for the conversations, the connections, and the shared commitment to improving student life across every campus we serve.
