What a great afternoon with !

Eric’s workshop, A Property Manager’s Guide to Cybersecurity Defense in the Age of AI, brought together a great group of property management professionals for an engaging conversation about AI, cybersecurity, and the risks businesses need to be thinking about.

And the questions didn’t disappoint! 👏 We had some great discussions and thoughtful questions from the room, making the workshop feel less like a presentation and more like a conversation.

Seeing a New Microsoft Passkey Prompt? Here’s What to Know.

Microsoft is changing how users securely sign in to Microsoft 365, with passkeys becoming a preferred way to authenticate.

You may soon see prompts asking you to set up or use a passkey.

Don’t panic, these prompts are part of Microsoft’s ongoing security changes and don’t necessarily mean your account has been compromised.

Passkeys let you verify your identity using something you already have, such as:
- Fingerprint or facial recognition
- Your device PIN
- Windows Hello
- Microsoft Authenticator
- A security key

Why the change?:
Passkeys are designed to provide stronger protection against phishing, stolen passwords and account takeover attemps.

Our tip: If Microsoft prompts you to set up a passkey, follow your organization’s approved setup process. If you’re unsure whether a login prompt is legitimate, contact your IT team before entering any information.

Would You Skip An Oil Change? Don't Skip Your APC Check. 🚗

APC battery backups aren’t regularly monitored or tested... until there’s a problem.

Think of your APC like your car’s oil. You wouldn’t skip oil changes until your engine stops working, and the same goes for your backup power.

Here’s what you can do to be :
- Review and test your APCs regularly.
- Plan to replace APC units about every 3 years, as batteries wear down over time.
- Make sure replacement batteries and units are planned for before they fail.

A failed APC can cause your server and network equipment to lose power, requiring equipment to be reconnected and potentially causing a momentary outage.

A little maintenance can help prevent a much bigger problem.
