Chicago, 1885: the Home Insurance Building, widely regarded as the first skyscraper, rose 42 m and gravity governed the design. Dubai, today: Burj Khalifa reaches 828 m, and what governs is wind, together with the way the structure responds to it. Same discipline, a completely different problem.
Solving it means having flow and dynamics in one environment. That is what we build for.
๐ช๏ธ 3: a digital wind tunnel for the actual building geometry. Terrain, surrounding buildings, steady state or transient flow, and surface pressures that transfer directly into the structural model as wind load cases instead of being approximated from a code table.
๐ฉ 6: everything that happens after the wind arrives. Natural frequencies and mode shapes, response spectrum and time history analysis for seismic regions, stability and second order effects, and the design checks for steel, concrete or composite in the same model.
