I'm mesmerized that I can still discover new things about the place I live and I’m so grateful for that. The Hudson Valley is such a gift.

I just visited the extraordinary Spiral House Park for the first time.

Late artist Tom Gottsleben and his wife Patty Livingston transformed an abandoned bluestone quarry into a place of magical beauty - a layered landscape of gardens and fields filled with Gottsleben’s stone and crystal glass sculptures, along with a four-story spiral house (Um-WOW!).

Of course, I had to get a photo under the Rainbow Portal sculpture 🌈

I’m captivated by this striking installation at ArtPort Kingston by Brooklyn and Connecticut-based artist Margaret Roleke.

Margaret transforms materials associated with harm into powerful spaces for reflection. Using spent shotgun shells, wire and zip ties, she explores the normalization of weaponry and nationalism, creating a visual tension between violence and beauty.

The inspiration for these shell-woven sculptures stems from her experience living near Sandy Hook Elementary School, prompting her to use art as a way to process cycles of violence, memory and renewal.
