His dad was determined to meet his newborn grandson, and his mom refused to leave his side when things went wrong. Decades later, it’s the little things he still remembers most, like the $2 bills his dad tucked into letters.

A photo reminds you what someone looked like. A voice reminds you what it felt like to be with them.

Hearing someone’s laugh, their pauses, the way they always started a story; those tiny details are often what our brains hold onto longest.

That’s why voice recordings become some of the most treasured family keepsakes. They preserve more than words. They preserve personality.

Ironically, the little things we try to edit out - like “um” - are often part of what makes someone instantly recognizable.
