That's a wrap on Beer City Code 2026. Thank you, Grand Rapids. 🍺

Our own Victor Frye took the stage twice on Saturday with his sessions "Polly Want a 500? Chaos Engineering for .NET Apps" and "The DevOops Handbook: A Satirical Guide to Slow Software Delivery."

And a huge thank you to everyone who swung by our booth. The best part was the conversations, whether we were talking custom software, AI, DevSecOps, or just handing out swag between sessions.

Hats off to the Beer City Code team. Already looking forward to next year.

Remember begging for better commit messages and JIRA tickets? Now AI writes 1,800 words to describe a typo fix. We got context. We got too much of it.

Ed LeGault makes the case that the problem is format, not context. His fix: give AI-generated PRs and tickets two sections.

📄 A human summary: what changed, why it matters, where to look.
🤖 A machine payload: structured metadata for your downstream agents.
🔮 It matters now, because today's artifacts become tomorrow's agent memory.

Read how to set it up:

AI-generated JIRA tickets and PRs have become word walls. Here's why your automation needs both a human summary and a machine-readable payload.

When an AI coding agent gets it wrong, most developers jump to a bigger, pricier model. There's a smarter first move: fix the context.

Matt Eland shares three practical techniques:
📄 Write a short AGENTS.md with your process and exact build/test commands.
🗂️ Keep documentation and architectural decision records in the repo, where agents actually find them.
📝 Use plan mode so the agent shows its approach before changing any code.

Better context, better output, lower token bills. Read the full post:

Is Gitflow still a best practice? Even Atlassian, the company that popularized it, now calls it a legacy workflow.

Ben Grossman breaks down why heavy-branching quietly slows teams down:
🗓️ It piles unplanned merge work onto the end of every sprint.
🧑‍🔧 It turns your senior engineers into merge janitors.
🚀 Deploying often from trunk is actually safer than hoarding work on branches.

He even shipped to production during Black Friday week. Read how it worked: https://blog.leadingedje.com/post/gitflow-legacy-trap.html

Happy Get to Know Your Customers Day! 🎉

We take "knowing your customer" pretty literally. When a global retail brand wanted agentic AI development to stick across its engineering teams, we started by learning their actual codebase, then trained every team against their real work.

The results: ~30% faster feature delivery, fewer defects, and more output at lower cost. Plus, a straight 5-out-of-5 rating across ~12 training cohorts.

Curious what that could look like for your team? → leadingedje.com/contact
