Today’s repairs included a Victoria 35310-T and a Marshall JVM215C. The Victoria was here for a checkup and it received new power tubes to replace the cooked 6L6’s that were installed burning the rear panel. Controls, jacks, tube sockets cleaned, everything tightened up, some solder tended to, and a 12AY7 returned to the V1 position that had been replaced with a 12AX7. Super tidy inside as always but forgot the pics. The Marshall had an intermittent issue of dropping output which I was never able to replicate after hours of runtime and coaxing out any problems. It was due for new power tubes so that was done along with a control and jack cleaning. All common points that lead to volume drop issues were tended to anyway to see if the issue persists for the customer.

This Blackstar HT20 was purchased used online by my customer and arrived with a non-functional overdrive channel. Found multiple bad joints on the preamp tube socket connections so the solder was removed and fresh quality solder reflowed in its place. The power tubes were also seemingly original with plenty of use so a new matched pair was installed and biased.

Amplified Nation Phoenix Fury 50 watt head had some tube rattle that was bothersome to the customer. So all hardware was checked to ensure everything was tight to not aid in the rattle. Power tubes were swapped for a pair of Tung-Sol 6L6GC checked for the least amount of rattle, tube dampers were installed, and bias adjusted.

Peavey 6505+ had issues with crackling/popping noises along with volume loss. Found the connector/harness between the main board and power amp board to be damaged which is a common issue on these. In addition the wires to/from the preamp board were also bad causing random oscillation, popping, crackling. So all connections were hardwired between boards to keep the issue from reoccurring. A noisy preamp tube was also replaced and bias checked.

1956 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 came in for a service after being found in a barn. Someone had previously installed a Norelco speaker with a crossover and tweeter but otherwise the amp was original. New electrolytic capacitors, dropping resistors, grid stoppers, plate resistors, volume control, power tubes, grounded cord, fuse holder, fuse, leather handle, and Jensen speaker were all used to get this back to functioning like new.

Peavey F-800B Super Festival in for a service which included all new electrolytic capacitors throughout. Budget was a concern for the customer so high quality radial caps were used in place of axials to save on cost. The damaged power cord was replaced and controls were cleaned. The customer also wanted the distortion circuit modded to match the earlier production F-800B amps so that portion of the amp was modded. Now the distortion circuit provides clean gain then a fuzz-like distortion toward max.

1964 Fender Princeton Reverb was low on volume in need of a checkup. Was previously poorly repaired with a partial recap(but they left the original bad filter cap installed), incorrectly wired power cord, incorrectly wired screen grid resistors added, incorrect B+ dropping resistor that was 10x the stock value causing the output of the amp to be low, incorrect bias cap value more than double the maximum value that can be safely used. So the multi-section filter cap was replaced with a PCB and modern radials that are more reliable than new production multi-section caps, rebuilt bias supply w/bias adjustment, removed the unneeded and incorrectly wired screen grid resistors, new B+ droppers in the correct values, correctly wired the power cord, modified the tremolo so it has much more depth, reflowed all solder, new plate resistors, new power tubes, and a new preamp tube. Now solid for many more years to come.

Vox AC 15 handwired combo in for a checkup. Just had noisy controls and tired power tubes so a cleaning and new tubes took care of that. The customer requested replacement of the low quality generic filter caps which was a smart move. So all were replaced with long life Vishay filter caps. The screen grids also got an upgrade to promote longer power tube life. Better than new!
