DO NOT PLAY - Episode 2: Press Start

PRESS START TO LOOK BEHIND YOU.

My hand froze over the controller. The hum of the TV suddenly felt deafening, masking the quiet floorboard creak that came from directly behind my chair.

I didn't press Start. I couldn't move. Slowly, the game camera on the screen began to rotate on its own, turning around in the virtual room toward the closet doors.

In the game, the closet doors were slowly swinging open, revealing a towering, distorted silhouette tucked into the pitch-black shadows.

Then, right beside my ear, I heard the faint, physical click of real cabinet hinges opening.

Episode 1: The Disc

The neon glare of the TV washed over Saad’s room. On his desk lay a plain black PS5 disc, unmarked except for a silver serial number: ERR-000. He’d found it in a forgotten box at a local thrift store.

He slid the disc into his console. The drive whirred like a frantic heartbeat, but instead of the normal PlayStation chime, a distorted static hum filled the room. The screen flashed black before displaying a single white prompt:
DO YOU REMEMBER THE WAY HOME?

Saad pressed YES.

The DualSense controller shuddered violently in his hands. There was no main menu—just a photorealistic render of his exact bedroom. Every detail, down to the stain on his rug, was flawless.

On screen, his character stood in front of the TV. Saad froze. The character froze too.

Then, a whisper leaked from the controller’s speaker: "Look behind you."

"DO NOT PLAY" is a short story of a Gamer Boy named Saad Khalid.......

The glossy black disc lay on Saad’s desk, unmarked except for three red words: DO NOT PLAY.

He chuckled, popped it into his console, and pressed start.

The screen loaded a dark room. Saad squinted at the monitor—the blue LED lights, the clothes piled on the chair, the cracked closet door. Everything was an exact match.

Leaning closer, he moved the controller's thumbstick to pan the camera left. The in-game screen showed a dusty cricket trophy sitting on top of a bookshelf. Saad slowly turned his head to the left wall of his actual room. The trophy was right there.

His breath caught. The game wasn't just set in a bedroom—it was set in his room, right now.

Episode 5: The Late Night Gaming

Ayyan’s full attention was locked on the screen, totally consumed by his favorite video game. He just started the game earlier for "just a few minutes" of gaming—a quick session that completely spiraled out of control.

Hours flew by unnoticed. It wasn't until a heavy knock echoed against his bedroom door that reality suddenly hit. Panic set in as he checked the time. It was late. Way too late.

Expecting a long lecture on discipline and screen time, Ayyan opened the door with his heart pounding, preparing for his Chachu’s usual advice. But instead of a harsh reaction, his Chachu just smiled, walked right past the stunned teenager, grabbed the second controller, and jumped straight into the match.

Episode 4 (The Arrival)

The parcel arrives at the door, and Ayyan opens it with a smile.

He takes the parcel, unboxes it, and pulls out his brand-new game. Excitement takes over as he inserts the disc into the console, waiting for the main menu to load.

Will Ayyan enjoy the game?

Episode 3 (Lightning Fast)

The engine rumbled to life as the rider set off, navigating through traffic with the sealed PS5 game secured in his bag.

Moments later, he pulled up to Ayyan Ahmed’s house and rang the doorbell.

The door flew open. Ayyan’s eyes locked onto the package, his expression instantly shifting from excitement to utter shock. He glanced at his watch in total disbelief—he had only just placed the order.
"Wait... already?" Ayyan asked, taking the parcel.

"When you order from Elite Games, we don't keep you waiting," the rider smiled. "Enjoy the game!"

Clutching the physical copy he’d spent days searching for, Ayyan grinned as the door clicked shut, thrilled to have finally found Elite Games.
