We know it is not Friday but we think this is a great action point for everyday....

🌎 Being aware of the ways our everyday behaviours can change outcomes for the planet, means we can all make a small but important contribution to a cleaner greener world this .

♻️ Whether you recycle your phone or choose to re-purpose it to family or friends....... we all have a role to play.

📱 This long weekend, a reminder to get into those old drawers or start a workplace challenge to gather up any unused devices lying around gathering dust. If you’ve been meaning to get around to it, this is your chance to tick that one off the list.

🥳 At RE:MOBILE we’re proud to be able to support our charity partners who are working hard every day to protect New Zealand’s coastlines and waterways.

💦 This , consider the impact of contamination or the ‘mixing’ of wrong types of materials into other recycling streams.

🔥 This could be food in the mixed recycling stream, glass in the paper recycling stream or e-waste in general recycling which itself can cause all sorts of hazards including fires.

🚫 Contamination causes issues at recycling facilities, meaning entire loads of material can sometimes be sent to landfill.

♻️ Before you recycle it, be sure to also clean it and make sure it’s going to the right place for disposal. Landfills leach hazardous materials into our waterways, no one wants that.

🥳 At RE:MOBILE we’re proud to be able to support our charity partners who are working hard every day to protect New Zealand’s coastlines and waterways.

📱 For every phone collected through RE:MOBILE, 100% of the per unit fee is donated to support clean ups, and the delivery of education to prevent litter, especially single use plastics.

🌊 Aotearoa you’ve donated over 895,476 phones since 2014, providing over $238,850 to support the great mahi being done to protect the moana we all love. Great work team! ♻️ 📱 💚

When you recycle your mobile phone with RE:MOBILE up to 95 percent of the materials that make up your mobile phone can be reused. 🥳

On , choose to keep materials in circulation for longer by reusing, repairing and repurposing what you already have.

When you recycle your mobile phone with RE:MOBILE up to 95 percent of the materials that make up your mobile phone can be reused.

Phones that are at the end of their working life are sent to our recycling partners to be broken down into components.

Phones still in working order have their data wiped, either manually by performing a factory reset or by using the MobiCode erasing system.

The phones are then sold to businesses that specialise in the re-sale of second-hand mobile phones, contributing to a circular economy.

Every time you reuse, repair or repurpose you are reducing the need to make a new product which helps reduce consumption and prevents items from ending up in landfill.

focuses on the ways we can reduce the amount of rubbish we’re sending to landfill.

Reducing your daily waste output is a great start. Keeping your e-waste out of landfill is another great way you can contribute!

♻️ Recycling your mobile phone helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build up of hazardous materials that are otherwise being sent to landfill and harming the environment.

🔥 Phones also contain lithium ion batteries and these can cause fires when they end up in landfill.

🔋 By recycling your mobile phone you will ensure that these batteries are disposed of safely.

📱 Avoid waste by opting for a scheme that reuses and repurposes your old phone.

NZ Recycling week is here, lets start looking for your unwanted phones...📱📞📲

📱Can you imagine your life without a mobile phone?

🗑️ That could be the reality if people continue to regularly upgrade their smartphones and simply throw away their old phones

🌎 At the current rate that we are manufacturing new smartphones and electronic devices, we risk running out of some of these materials in as little as 20 to 30 years.

♻️ When we buy a phone, we must remember that we’re also responsible for its waste.

💡It’s important to consider the impact phones make on our environment throughout their entire lifecycle and how the choices we make around devices can contribute to minimising climate impact.

⚖️ Any phone that is reused, refurbished or recycled contributes to the circular economy of mobile phones in New Zealand, reducing the demand for new handsets and the associated environmental impact of manufacturing them.

We all have a role to play ♻️ 📱 💚
