AI is creating a new wave of integration challenges.

AI agents are emerging as both consumers and producers of enterprise services. Integrations themselves may become shorter lived and more dynamic, creating new demands around governance, security, monitoring and lifecycle management.

Which is why CIOs are looking at integration again.

Ian Vanstone and Craig Gerken, two leaders in Fusion5's Data and Integration Practice, explore how AI is changing the shape of enterprise integration and why today's operating models may need to evolve with it.

10 years in Microsoft’s Inner Circle.

Fusion5 has been recognised as a Microsoft AI Business Solutions Inner Circle Partner for 2026/27, marking our 10th consecutive year as part of the Inner Circle community.

Our relationship with Microsoft gives our teams closer access to the people, thinking and innovation shaping what comes next across business applications, data and AI.

That helps us bring those insights and opportunities into the work we’re doing with customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Ten years also says something about consistency. The period ahead is an important one for many businesses as they make decisions about where and how to invest in emerging technology. This recognition reflects our experience in helping leaders navigate those decisions.

So, thank you to our customers, our Microsoft colleagues and the Fusion5 people who have contributed to that journey.

🚀 Here’s to the next 10!

Some businesses evolve quietly over time.
For nearly 150 years, Donaghys Rural has refined its focus to where it creates the most value today, manufacturing agricultural products with a strong emphasis on quality and control.

By implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Donaghys has strengthened planning, production, and compliance processes, helping reduce risk and improve operational consistency.

A practical story of modernising the systems behind the business, while staying true to what matters most.

Over August and September, The Business Redesign Imperative Roadshow brought together over 300 business and technology leaders across Melbourne, Sydney, Wellington and Auckland.

Through a series of presentations, customer panels and discussions, we looked at how organisations are approaching process redesign, governance, workforce change and operating model evolution to turn AI potential into measurable business outcomes.

Three themes came through repeatedly in the breakout conversations and feedback.

🟣 Governance is on everyone's mind.
The audience understood that governance was important, but valued hearing practical examples of what that looks like in reality. How do you introduce the right levels of oversight, accountability and control, proportionate to the risks involved, without unnecessarily slowing experimentation and progress?

🟣 Making agent governance tangible.
The Agent Operations Centre (AOC) generated a lot of positive feedback. As organisations think about growing numbers of agents doing real work, people valued seeing a practical example of the framework and platform that can sit around a multi-agent environment to provide oversight, accountability and control.

🟣 Pragmatism is valued.
Leaders weren't looking for more hype or fear about AI. They valued practical examples of what business redesign and agentic operations look like, what's working, what's proving difficult, and how other organisations are approaching their next steps.

That was also why the customer panels were such an important part of each event. A range of leaders shared their own journeys, lessons and experiences openly and candidly.

Thank you to everyone who contributed: Fiona Marshall from Cario, Iain Urquhart from AoFrio Ltd, Declan Burke from Northpower, Nancy T. from Toyota New Zealand Limited, Marisa Van Der Linde from Ports North, Michael Perry from Treasury W**e Estates & Juhi King nee Jhunjhunwala from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

And to our fantastic speakers: Deepak Nangia, Kristy Brown, Belinda Muir, Lance O'Grady, Ian Vanstone, Jonathan Rickard, Jaime Enriquez, Troy Ge**er, Mary Ann Tan, Marie Sideris, Drew A., Matthew Lingard, Shannon Moir & Steven Emanouel.

A lot will change over the next 12 months. We'll continue learning through our own experience as Customer Zero, alongside the organisations we work with, giving us plenty of new lessons, stories and practical insights to share in 2027.

Register your interest for the 2027 Roadshow and we'll keep you informed as dates and details are confirmed.

In our highlight reel, Troy Emery from Henley Homes and Michael Perry from Treasury W**e Estates share their biggest takeaways from the events, along with their perspectives on how businesses should balance using AI to unlock new revenue opportunities with delivering meaningful cost savings.

The roadshow isn’t over yet. Next, we’re heading across the Tasman - starting in Wellington next Tuesday, 8 September, before continuing to Auckland on 15 September.

We asked Belinda Muir, Group General Counsel, one question: “What’s one thing AI still can’t do that people shouldn’t underestimate?”

Her answer gets to the heart of where human judgement still matters — even as AI becomes more capable.

For many organisations, the challenge with data isn’t a lack of information. It’s making sense of it.

When systems grow over time, reporting often becomes fragmented. Data sits in different platforms. Teams spend time reconciling numbers instead of using them.

That’s a reality many not-for-profits face too.

Barnardos Aotearoa took a practical approach. Over time, they built a stronger data foundation by bringing information from multiple systems into a secure data lake and introducing to simplify reporting.

The result wasn’t a dramatic transformation.

It was something more valuable: reliable reporting, stronger governance, and growing confidence in how data is used across the organisation.

A good reminder that progress with data often comes from steady steps, not big leaps.

There's a lot of noise around AI right now — and not all of it holds up.

We asked Diego Segreto, Solution Strategy Manager, for the biggest myth he's seeing across ANZ boardrooms.

Most organisations already have the information customers need. It’s just not always easy to find. Across websites, practical information is spread across multiple pages, PDFs, FAQs and service descriptions. When people cannot quickly see a clear path to the answer, they default to picking up the phone.

In healthcare, that can mean clinics and contact centres handling large volumes of everyday questions such as:
🔹Where is my nearest clinic?
🔹Should I fast before my appointment?
🔹Is parking available at the clinic?
🔹How long will the appointment take?

None of these are complex questions. But answering them still takes time and resources.
AI assistants are changing this dynamic by turning dispersed website content into a simple conversational experience.

Pacific Radiology recently introduced an AI assistant built with Microsoft Copilot Studio to surface this practical information quickly and clearly for patients.
A simple interface that helps people get answers faster and helps contact centres focus on the questions that really need human support.
