I was doing a site audit for a new client this morning. Three things jumped out immediately. They weren't technical errors. They weren't broken pages. They were quiet problems the kind that cost you without making any noise.

1. The phone number wasn't clickable on mobile. Anyone who wanted to call had to copy-paste it. How many people gave up?

First, they blame the hosting. Upgrade the plan, pay more, same speed. Then the theme. Then a plugin. Then whoever built it. Then they just accept that slow is how WordPress is.

It's not.

Most of the time it's uncompressed 4MB images loading one after another . Too many plugins, some with overlapping functions, and unnecessary security plugins. A database full of years of leftover junk nobody ever cleaned up.

None of it shows up in your hosting dashboard. And most of it takes hours to fix not weeks.
