It is with great sadness we advise of the passing of our founder, Kevern John Kendle, on 8 July 2026, one day before his 85th birthday.

Kevern John Kendle
9 July 1941 – 8 July 2026

Kev founded Kendle Computer Services in April 1981. Working initially with a third-party software provider, he went on to become the Master Dealer for South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Beginning his career as an accountant, Kev soon became fascinated by the emerging world of computer software. He spent countless evenings teaching himself to code and exploring innovative ways to develop software solutions for Australian businesses.

His vision led to the creation of the original Merlin Software, which was released as we entered the new millennium. Soon after, the company was renamed Merlin Software, a name that continues today through our Cobalt RMS suite and the business he built over more than four decades.

In retirement, Kev remained an active member of his local Rotary Club and continued to serve as Treasurer for several organisations – true to his lifelong passion for accounting and community service.

Above all else, Kev’s greatest pride was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always at the centre of his life. He will also be deeply missed by his many friends, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

While we mourn his passing, we remain committed to continuing the business and values that Kev established. We thank you for your ongoing trust and support, and we look forward to serving you for many years to come as we honour his legacy.
