🐑 PADSTAL REVIEW: Travalia Guest Farm & Farm Stall - THREE SISTERS
Somewhere between Beaufort West, Victoria West, Murraysburg and Richmond, the N1 takes you through the magnificent Karoo landscape where the mountains seem to whisper:
“Slow down… there might be a padstal ahead!” 😄
And sure enough… Travalia Guest Farm & Farm Stall in the Karoo 🐑❤️
But first, we simply had to admire the Three Sisters themselves - those three distinctive Karoo koppies standing proudly above the landscape, gave Three Sisters its name, and on our cool overcast day, they looked especially dramatic against the grey Karoo sky 🏔️🏔️🏔️
And then… we met the lambs.
Violet is, as everyone knows, a donkey 🫏 but at Travalia, Violet had to undergo an identity check and pose for a photograph…
AS A LAMB 🐑🤣
But being the adaptable donkey she is, she jumped right into position, gave it her best “Baaaaaaah… we mean, hee-haw!” and went along with the photo shoot!
After all… when in Travalia, do as the lambs do 🐑🤣
And what followed, could have been predicted ... lamb pies 🥧 as Circuit needed something warm and comforting after being so patient with Violet and all her lamb-posing!
😋 Those pies were just what the travelling-doctor ordered and our tummies were VERY happy 😋
Travalia's Farmstall also has a butchery and a whole collection of road-trip goodies - including biltong, droëwors, nuts, dried fruit, homemade rusks and braai packs (if you want to fill up your cooler box) 🥩🔥
And, Travalia Guest Farm & Farm Stall also offers overnight accommodation, which makes this an ideal Karoo stop when the road ahead is still a long one 🏡
So to recap, our Travalia visit went something like this:
Violet arrived as a donkey… posed as a lamb… and we left with lamb pies and a boot filled with padstal lekkerte!
We call that a successful padstal visit! ❤️
Circuit says: “Definitely worth every single crumb.”
Violet says: “Baaaah… sorry HE-HAW!” 🐑🫏🤣
