Huge progress on Teraco’s first 120MW solar PV plant located in the Northern Free State in South Africa.

Spanning 270 hectares, roughly the size of 47 Cape Town Stadiums, 400 Soccer pitches, Central Park in New York or Monaco, the project represents a major investment in South Africa’s renewable energy and digital infrastructure future.

Once operational, the plant will generate more than 350,000MWh of renewable energy annually, wheeled through Eskom and municipal networks to power multiple Teraco data centres across South Africa.

But this project is about more than clean energy generation.

It is about building real infrastructure that contributes to the broader energy ecosystem, including new transmission connections, substation infrastructure, and upgrades to Eskom’s network capacity to support the successful integration of renewable energy into the grid.

This is what long-term investment in South Africa’s digital and energy future looks like.
