Excel isn't the problem.
Excel is incredibly useful.

A warm welcome to Aletheia Louw, who recently joined Zinia as our new Service Delivery Co-ordinator. 👋

Aletheia brings an interesting mix of experience to the role.

She started her career as a Technical Support Analyst, building hands-on experience in the technical and telecommunications space and learning to solve problems under pressure.

She then took a very different turn into marketing, where her focus shifted to communication, projects, events and brand — adding a strong people and creative side to her experience.

Now she gets to bring those two worlds together at Zinia.

In Service Delivery, where good communication and coordination matter just as much as understanding the technology behind the service, we think that combination will serve her well.

Aletheia says she’s looking forward to learning from the team, growing into her new role and building new connections along the way.

A little Friday appreciation for the people behind Zinia. ❤️

The past few weeks have been busy ones, with plenty happening across our teams.

But somewhere between the meetings, projects, deadlines and getting things done, there’s always room for a laugh, a quick game, a photo (or several 😄), and a chance to simply enjoy the people we work alongside.

A few moments from around the office lately — our people looking good, having fun and helping each other unwind after putting in the work.

Because working hard matters. So does enjoying where you work and the people you do it with.

Cloud. On-premises. Hybrid. Which one is best?

The useful answer is: it depends.

Security requirements, existing infrastructure, application dependencies, budget, performance, compliance and growth plans all affect the decision.

Cloud can provide flexibility and scalability. On-premises environments can make sense where businesses need greater physical control or have specific application requirements.

Hybrid environments can combine both. The goal isn't to choose the trendiest architecture. It's to choose the environment that supports the business.

"But the building next door has fibre."
It's a completely reasonable question.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always mean your building can be connected immediately.
One building may already have fibre infrastructure installed while the building next door still requires trenching, landlord approval, wayleaves or other civil work.

That's why feasibility matters.

As a general guide, an already connected building may have an implementation timeframe of around 4–8 weeks.

Where infrastructure still needs to be extended and municipal approvals are required, the process can be closer to 4–6 months.

Two buildings next door to one another can therefore have very different connectivity timelines.

Before finalising the 2027 IT budget, it helps to know what you're actually working with. An IT audit doesn't have to be an enormous exercise.

Start with ten areas:
Hardware. Licensing. Cybersecurity. Backups. Network. Cloud. Support. Business continuity. Documentation. Future requirements.

The objective isn't to find things to spend money on.

It's to identify what needs attention, what can wait, and where the biggest business risks or opportunities actually sit.

Before buying faster internet, make sure the internet is actually the problem. A fast connection doesn't automatically mean a fast network.

Traffic still needs to move through your firewall, switches, cabling, Wi-Fi and ultimately the user's device.

A bottleneck anywhere along that route can create a poor experience.
You can have an excellent speed test while Teams calls still break up or Wi-Fi struggles when the office fills up.

As our Head of Operations puts it:
“Upgrading the internet without understanding the actual cause is a bit like widening the highway while leaving the off-ramp blocked.”

Diagnose first. Spend second. 🛜

A little throwback while we start planning something special… 👀

As we begin planning this year’s Zinia year-end celebration, we couldn’t resist looking back at some of the memories from last year.

Because while the venue, theme and plans might change, the best part stays the same: the people. ❤️

Our year-end celebration is a chance to step away from the day-to-day, celebrate what we’ve achieved together, have some fun, and simply enjoy spending time as a team.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a brilliant group of people behind Zinia — and we already can’t wait to get our Zinians together again to celebrate another year of hard work, growth, teamwork and plenty of memorable moments.

It’s been just over a month since we introduced the refreshed Zinia brand and website.

The new look was the most visible part. But the bigger change was how we brought the business together around what our clients actually need from technology today.

Over time, Zinia has grown beyond connectivity and managed services into a much broader technology partner across managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, connectivity, software and business continuity.

The refresh gave us the opportunity to make that evolution clearer.

Not by changing who we are. By better reflecting what Zinia has become.

Moving to the cloud isn't one decision.

And it definitely shouldn't start with: "Let's move everything."

A better cloud journey starts with understanding your current environment, deciding what belongs in the cloud, planning the migration properly, and then continuing to optimise once you're there.

A practical approach looks something like this:
Assess > Plan > Migrate > Optimise > Innovate

Some workloads may move. Some may stay exactly where they are. The objective isn't to become "more cloud". It's to build an environment that works better for the business.
