We know what it feels like when the lights go out. But what if they didn't come back on?

Many South Africans have experienced the disruption of load shedding. For millions of people across sub-Saharan Africa, however, living without reliable electricity is not an inconvenience. It's an everyday reality.

During an interactive experience led by local SolarAid Ambassador Gcobisa Kgope, RS employees were challenged to complete everyday tasks in the dark. When a solar light was switched on, the difference was immediate.

For us, it was a simulation. For others, it's life.

The experience highlighted the impact of the work being done by SolarAid, RS Group's global charity partner, to bring clean, safe solar lighting to communities without reliable access to electricity.
