One of the perks of running our own print shop is a steady supply of notepads to help keep our work moving. If you love jotting down notes, or you're looking for a practical gift for your customers, notepads are a great choice. They sit on desks, counters, and workstations, keeping your name in front of the people who matter most.

A custom shape can turn a good large format sign into one people actually stop and look at. Instead of a standard rectangle, the shape is incorporated into the design and cut to the edges of the artwork.

It's a great option for signs that need to stand out, whether that's on a lawn, at an event, or anywhere else. We handle the cutting in-house, so your design comes out exactly as planned. Reach out to Heather to talk through your next custom sign.

Why can CMYK printing look duller than what you see on your screen?

Monitors are backlit, illuminating color from behind, and they display images using thousands of tiny points of light in RGB color mode.

Printing uses CMYK, which builds color by mixing ink on paper. When a file converts from RGB to CMYK, colors shift, and some of that on-screen vibrancy doesn't carry over the same way once it's printed.

A few things can help close that gap:
▪️Rich black: swapping a standard black for a rich black (mixing in some cyan, magenta, and yellow along with the black) gives you more depth than black ink alone.
▪️Contrast: pushing your contrast up a bit often makes the piece read as more vibrant once it's printed.
▪️Paper stock: a gloss stock absorbs less ink, so it builds up on the surface and looks richer. A more natural or uncoated stock soaks the ink in, which tends to look duller by comparison.

Even with all of that, the best way to know if you've hit the look you want is to see it on a printed sample. We're happy to provide a physical proof before finishing your project. Reach out to Heather to talk through your file.

Our new digital inkjet press has been fully installed! We're spending the next couple of days as a team learning how to maintain the printer so it remains G7-compliant.

For printing and packaging, the G7 International Color Management Standard ensures visual gray balance and neutral print density are consistent across different printing devices, presses, and materials.

This will allow Wooster Color Point to provide more predictable color matching and reduce waste across our four printers.

The press proof is the first sheet that comes off the press, printed on the actual paper and ink for that project, and it's the moment we get to see the piece exactly as it will print once the full run is complete.

We check color, alignment, and image quality carefully at this stage. The color bars running along the edge of the sheet help us measure the ink's consistency, so every single copy that follows matches what was approved.

Before digital fonts and instant downloads, every letter started here. Known as "type," these pieces were handcrafted from metal or wood, giving each project a unique look.

We still have cabinets of this original type in our shop today, and it remains part of the foundation everything else we do is built on. This timeless craft is a reminder that print has always been more than ink on paper. It's an art form that brings messages to life.

This was a cool wide format piece we completed. The client added a vintage, worn-in look to the background. That detail catches your attention and draws the eye in. This is a great example of how small design choices can impact an overall piece.
