Screenshot this one. It's the whole phishing test in three questions. 🎃

Before you click anything in an email:
1. Is it rushing you?
2. Who's it REALLY from — not the name, the address?
3. Were you expecting it?

Ten seconds. That's it. Spooky season's only real trick is the fake email built to make you hurry.

Save it to your phone, or send it to someone here in Wi******er who'd click first and ask later. We all know one.

How to report them is on the blog — link in the comments. 540.303.2410

Honest question, Wi******er: what's actually stopping you from turning on two-step verification?

Most people say the same thing — "it's a hassle." Fair. But it usually only asks for that second code when you sign in somewhere new. A few seconds, once in a while.

It's the most valuable two minutes you'll spend on your safety all year, and your email is where to start.

So which is it — the hassle, or just never got around to it? Tell me below.

Walkthrough on the blog, link in the comments. 540.303.2410

You know somebody who uses the same password for everything. You can probably picture them right now.

Here's what most folks miss: weak passwords aren't the real danger — reused ones are. One company gets breached, and that same password gets tried on every other account you own.

So do them a favor and share this with them. Awkward for a second, better than a drained account.

Blog link's in the comments — the free helper that remembers them all, so you only remember one.

Look at what we did this quarter, Wi******er. Which one stuck for you? July, we cleaned the inbox. August, we got the files organized. September, we made sure you can't lose any of it. That's a genuinely organized, protected digital life — and you built it ten minutes at a time.

So pat yourself on the back. Then mark your calendar: October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and we're going to go deeper on keeping all this safe — sharing files with family and your team the smart way, and the protections worth turning on.

If a friend started one of these habits because you nudged them, that's a win. Share this and bring them along for October.

Deep breath, Wi******er. Sometimes the trouble already happened — you deleted the wrong file, the computer won't turn on, or a message says your files are locked.

This week's blog is the calm walkthrough for all three. What to check first when something's deleted, why you should STOP touching a dying drive (and not run random "recovery" software), and the level-headed steps if you ever see a ransomware screen. The big rule: the sooner you stop and think, the better your odds.

Ever had one of those three happen to you? Bookmark this before you need it — link's in the comments.

Something new worth a Saturday trip: "Gateways: African American Art from the Key Collection" opens this week at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, and it's up through mid-January.

The MSV is one of those quiet treasures right here in our backyard. If you've been meaning to wander through, this is a lovely reason to go.

Anybody been yet? Tell me what's worth seeing — I'd like to know before I go.

Wi******er, if reading about backups is one thing and actually doing it is another — I hear you. That's exactly why Skits' Classroom exists.

The free Backing Up Your Data course walks you through getting a real plan in place, click by click, at your own pace. About ten minutes. No sign-up wall to start, no jargon, and you can pause and come back any time. By the end you'll have done the thing instead of just meaning to.

Ten minutes — got it in you? Step into the Classroom, link's in the comments. Your future self (and your photos) say thanks.

First day of fall, Wi******er. 🍁

Something about the season turning makes everybody want the house in order — sweaters down from the attic, soup back on the stove. Same instinct works on the digital house, and it's a good habit before the holiday stretch.

Screenshot this and work through it some quiet evening:

🍁 Is anything backing up on its own?
🍁 Could you get last year's photos back today?
🍁 Is two-step turned on for your email?
🍁 Does anyone else know the passwords?

Pass it to somebody who'd answer no to all four.

Not every file is worth the same worry, Wi******er. A program you can reinstall. A document you can re-download. But some things exist in exactly one place — and if they're gone, they're gone.

This week's blog is about those: the photos, the tax records, the scanned documents, the work files that would be a nightmare to rebuild. How to figure out what's truly irreplaceable, and the phone-photo trap that catches almost everybody.

Which of yours would be hardest to lose? Worth ten minutes this weekend — link's in the comments.

Arrr, Wi******er. It be International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Me hat be too big and me cutlass too small,
me ship be a pickup in the Apple Blossom mall.
No gold have I plundered, no ocean I've crossed —
but me mug it be full, so who's countin' the cost?

Arrr.

Best pirate insult ye can manage? Post it below, ye landlocked scallywags.
