On July 13, the Department of War suspended the move to CMMC Phase 2 certification, along with the milestones tied to it, while a newly formed CMMC Reform Task Force reviews the program over the next 60 days.

Here's the catch: the finish line moved, but the requirements didn't disappear.

› Third-party assessment is on hold
› Self-assessment stays in place for Level 1 and Level 2
› NIST SP 800-171 and your DFARS 252.204-7012 obligations are unchanged

If your contract already includes Phase 2 language, wait for your contracting officer's written amendment before treating anything as final.
