It’s not a “Happy Memorial Day.”

It’s not a day to thank a service member.

It’s a day to remember.

To slow down.

To honor.

To understand that some families are missing someone at the table because they gave everything for this country.

So enjoy the freedom,
but don’t forget the cost.

Memorial Day is for the ones who never made it home.

We have 4 dozen chicken eggs available! Message to claim!

P.s. one of our girls has been consistently laying massive double yolk eggs so if you see an egg in your carton that looks like it should be a duck egg, don’t fret! She’s just putting in extra work right now 😂

WORLD BEE DAY - 20th May 🐝

World Bee Day is celebrated on May 20 each year. The purpose of the international day is to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem.

Did you know:
1.Though bees have jointed legs, they do not possess anything like a kneecap, and therefore do not have knees.
2. Honey has antiseptic properties and was historically used as a dressing for wounds and a first aid treatment for burns and cuts.
3. The natural fruit sugars in honey – fructose and glucose – are quickly digested by the body. This is why sportsmen and athletes use honey to give them a natural energy boost.
4. The practice of beekeeping dates back at least 4,500 years.
5. Bees must gather nectar from two million flowers to make one pound of honey
6. One bee has to fly about 90,000 miles – three times around the globe – to make one pound of honey.
7. The average bee will make only 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.
8. A honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a collection trip.
9. A honey bee can fly for up to six miles, and as fast as 15 miles per hour.
10. Bees communicate by dancing.

✨ Plant Spotlight: Variegated Devil’s Backbone ✨

This unique beauty is definitely a conversation starter! The Variegated Devil’s Backbone is loved for its zig-zag shaped stems, creamy white and green variegation, and easygoing nature. 🌿

Despite its dramatic name, this plant is surprisingly low maintenance and thrives with:
☀️ Bright indirect light
💧 Watering when the soil dries out
🪴 Well-draining soil

As it matures, it can even produce tiny delicate flowers along the stems! Its unusual structure makes it the perfect statement plant for shelves, plant walls, or sunny corners.

One thing to note — like many euphorbias, it contains a milky sap that can be irritating to skin and pets, so handle with care. ✨

If you love rare-looking plants with tons of personality, the Variegated Devil’s Backbone is definitely one to add to your collection. 🌱💚

Yesterday’s beautiful weather had us out in the garden getting our brassicas in the ground! 🌱🥦

Cool-season veggies like broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, kale, and cauliflower actually thrive in early spring temperatures. These plants prefer cooler weather and can quickly bolt once the summer heat rolls in — which is why now is the perfect time to get them planted!

Warmer nights are getting SO close, and before we know it we’ll be transplanting all the rest of our veggies and fruits too. 🍅🌶️🍉

If you’re looking to start your garden this season, we still have tons of veggie and herb starters available! Send us a message and we’d love to help get your garden growing. 🌿

🌱 Thursday Plant Tip 🌱

Did you know? 👀
Even on warm spring days in Ohio, overnight temps can still stress or damage veggie plants like tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. 🌡️🥶

If temps dip below 50°F, many warm-weather plants can slow down, droop, or get damaged — even if there’s no frost! 🍅🌶️🥒

Spring sunshine can be deceiving… always check those nighttime temps before planting outdoors full-time 🌿💚
