The Fairborn Police Department is warning citizens about an increase in scams involving Bitcoin and cryptocurrency machines (also known as Bitcoin ATMs).

HOW THE SCAM WORKS:
Scammer may contact victims by phone, text, email, or social media and claim to be:
• Law enforcement officers
• Government agencies (IRS, Social Security, Courts)
• Utility companies
• Banks or financial institutions

They often pressure victims to deposit cash into a bitcoin machine to:
• Pay Fines, Fees, or Taxes
• Resolve a Warrant or Legal Issue
• Secure accounts or stop “fraudulent activity”

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
Do not share personal or financial information
Hang up immediately if you feel pressured or threatened
Do not deposit money into a Bitcoin machine for someone you do not personally know

WHAT TO DO IF YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE BEING TARGETED OR HAVE ALREADY BEEN CONTACTED:
- Stop the transaction immediately
- Call the Fairborn Police Department as soon as possible.
- If the scam is in progress, call 911.
Early reporting may help prevent further loss and protect others in our community.

We are happy to have hosted Tax Tyme for the last couple years and are sad to see them go, but happy for them in their next chapter moving forward in a new building to consolidate their offices. With that, we will have our second office up for rent coming this June! We still have the first office up for rent as well.

SCAM ALERT!

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn you about this scam that is popping up around Central Ohio. We have received several reports of people receiving a Traffic Violation Notice, claiming to be from the Municipal Court of the County of Franklin. It says it’s a Final Notice – Court Enforcement Action for an “outstanding traffic violation involving your registered vehicle with the State of Ohio.”

This is a SCAM. Do NOT scan the QR code.

We want to take a moment to remind you that any requests for payments for toll fees, parking violations, or speeding violations that are made via email or text message are a scam. Never click on a link or scan a QR code from an unknown source. If you are ever wondering about the legitimacy of a legal summons, contact the agency at a number you find yourself on their website. And please report any scams to your local law enforcement agency.

If you want to quickly lose access to your business page on Facebook, this is how you do it! This is a legitimate email from Facebook, however, the "partner agency" that is requesting access to the page is a group of scammers. Never go to links in the name line of a business and NEVER give access to your business page unless you know who you are working with. Anybody can send these requests. Unless you are intentionally giving someone access, just delete these things!
