Somebody talked your dad into installing an app to fix his computer. Check his phone this weekend. ⚠️

Swipe left past his last home screen and read every app. Anything that lets another person control the screen, and he can't explain, comes off. It takes about a minute.

Send this to your dad's favorite kid tonight and decide who checks the phone Sunday.

Already put your card number into one of these fake store ads? Do not wait to see if the package shows up.

Call your bank or card company right away using the number on the back of your card, and file a report at reportfraud.ftc.gov. The sooner you act, the better your chances of getting your money back.

If you want help sorting out what happened, or just want someone to double check an ad before you order, we are happy to sit down with you.

Call or text (210) 550-6884 or visit techeasetyler.com. We come to your home in Tyler.

Run your thumb across that QR code before you scan it. ⚠️

Scammers stick fake codes on top of real ones, and the FTC and FBI both say to check for a sticker. It takes two seconds, and then read the web address before you tap.

Send this to your mom tonight, or anyone you look out for who scans and pays.

Before you click buy on that too-good-to-be-true ad, run through this quick checklist.

πŸ” Skip the ad link and go straight to the real store's website yourself.
πŸ” Check the web address carefully. Extra words or odd spellings mean trouble.
πŸ” Search the store name plus the word scam before you order.
πŸ” Always pay with a credit card, never a gift card or wire transfer.

A real discount from a real store is rare. A countdown clock and a today only price should always make you pause.

Scrolling Facebook and see a laptop or a pair of name brand shoes at seventy percent off? That deal might not be real.

Fake online stores are showing up more and more in social media ads. They steal a real company's logo and photos, then take your card number and disappear. The FTC has been warning about this, and we are seeing it hit families right here in East Texas.

We put together the five signs a store is fake, and what to do if you already clicked buy.

If a letter showed up saying your website broke a privacy law and you owe thousands of dollars, do not pay it yet. ⚠️

The Texas Attorney General's office says these demand letters going to Texas businesses may exaggerate the violation. Report it, do not respond to the sender, and talk to a lawyer first.

Send this to somebody who runs a business in town. Call or text 210-550-6884 β€” TechEase Tyler. πŸ™
