Yesterday I helped an older couple in Las Soleras who were dealing with the kind of computer problems that can drive you nuts.
Her computer was randomly restarting, and Windows Update wasn’t working. His computer was having trouble installing the printer and kept randomly losing its internet connection.
At first glance, these looked like several different problems.
On her computer, I found an old printer driver blocking Windows Update. The failed updates were also behind the random restarts. Once I tracked down and removed the old driver, Windows could finally update normally.
On his computer, the culprit turned out to be Blaze VPN. It was interfering with the printer installation and causing his intermittent internet connection. I removed the VPN but left the Blaze browser, which he likes using.
That’s a pretty typical service call for me. You don’t need to diagnose the problem before you call. Just tell me what isn’t working, and I’ll figure out why.
