Functional training equipment is everywhere in fitness facilities today.
But having more equipment does not necessarily create a better training space.
The real question is how the equipment fits into the facility.
A well-planned functional training area can support personal training, small-group training, strength work and more, while making better use of the available space.
Before adding equipment, facility owners should consider:
- Who will use it?
- How will the space be used?
- How will members move through it?
- Can multiple people train safely and efficiently?
- Does the equipment support the facility's programming and business goals?
The best fitness spaces are not necessarily the ones with the most equipment.
They are the ones where the right equipment, layout, programming and member experience work together.
Every square foot should have a purpose.
