The pros of using illustrations in web design are obvious: https://clay.global/blog/web-design-guide/illustrations-web-design

They can do much more than simply make a website visually better:
✨ Simplify complex ideas
✨ Reinforce your brand's personality
✨ Guide users through key actions
✨ Make interfaces feel more human
✨ Stand out where photography falls flat

The key is knowing why and when to use them. Read our guide to find out more.

From a selfie device to the default screen of the web: https://clay.global/blog/practices-for-mobile-web-design

Mobile-first design won that argument years ago. The tricky part is keeping it working, because even small fixes to the site can break layouts.

Make sure basic principles hold with every release, from Core Web Vitals to multi-device testing.

Look at your product like a first-time user: https://clay.global/blog/ux-guide/diary-studies

That is the main goal of diary studies, where people log their product experience in real time.

Those entries show what actually drives business impact.

Good responsive web design is invisible. It loads cleanly and fits any screen: https://clay.global/blog/web-design-guide/responsive-web-design

How can you quickly check if your website is responsive?

Resize the browser window and watch how smoothly the layout adapts. All elements should remain readable and easy to use. But that is only part of the picture.

We break down everything you need to know about responsive design.

Time machine for Millennials and a new trend for Gen Z: https://clay.global/blog/skeuomorphism-ui

Skeuomorphism is back. After a decade of flat screens, depth and texture read as fresh again, helping interfaces stand out and keep users engaged.

It's the perfect time to try the style before everyone else does.

But financial software has a habit of looking like financial software: abstract graphics, blue gradients, screens full of numbers.

We moved away from anonymous “tech” imagery and brought real people into the visual story. We untangled a large product ecosystem with clearer navigation. Then we built a modular system so the site could keep expanding without slowly becoming a patchwork.

Complex product, more human presence.

Yahoo Games is an online gaming portal. We gave it a brand-new, playful look while keeping its identity intact 🎮

The core challenge was making a large game library feel effortless to explore.

We added distinct visual sections, clear categories, and quick access to popular titles right from the menu. Each one became a bold hub that draws users deeper.

When it comes to cognitive load, less is more: https://clay.global/blog/web-design-guide/cognitive-load

The small things that add up to mental work on your website:
⬆️ Mega-menus listing every category at once
⬆️ More than one primary action per screen
⬆️ Clever copy users decode before they act
⬆️ Weak hierarchy
⬆️ Autoplay video

These details are easy to overlook in a design review. But when there are fewer of them, the site performs much better.
