Women are about 20% less likely than men to use generative AI tools.

That's the finding from a synthesis of 18 studies covering more than 140,000 people worldwide, by researchers from Harvard Business School, UC Berkeley Haas, and Stanford. The gap appears across nearly every region, sector, and occupation.

Why it matters: when fewer women use these tools, AI systems learn less from women's knowledge and perspectives, and the gap can reinforce itself.

Closing it isn't only about access. It's about confidence, literacy, and having a voice in how AI is shaped. That's exactly the conversation we're having at The Outlet 34.
