Risk Management Is All About Pain Relief 🌡️

Risks, especially if not fully understood, seem to irritate Senior Management. As risk managers, we often want to tell them to take two aspirin and call us in the morning. Unfortunately, their pain is also our pain. So, is there something we can do to make the inevitable risk ride more comfortable?

The following Steps may help:

1. Prioritize activities based on immediacy: "Now," "Tomorrow," and "As Time Allows." Slice up the risk into edible parts for better management.
2. Define and quantify the actual risk's impact on the organization. Quantification helps management understand the priorities and trade-offs involved.
3. Prioritize risks for attack, focusing on small wins that lead to complete victory. A full assault seldom bears positive results.
4. Empower your team to manage the workload and expedite issue resolution. Delegation allows you, as the risk manager, to focus on key tasks.
5. Maintain effective communication with management to keep them informed of progress and seek assistance when needed. Communication is the key to success.
6. Continuously monitor and update until the risk is resolved. Stay vigilant throughout the process.
