Introducing Jama Intelligence: Governed AI for Complex Product Development.

Engineering teams need AI that understands their requirements and operates within established development processes.

Today, we're introducing Jama Intelligence, a new package of AI capabilities built directly into Jama Connect®.

Jama Intelligence brings together our new AI Assistant and existing Jama Connect Advisor™ capabilities to help teams improve requirements quality, generate test cases, identify traceability gaps, and discover relationships between engineering items.

Because Jama Intelligence operates within Jama Connect, engineers can use AI while maintaining the permissions, traceability, and change controls their work requires. Engineers remain responsible for reviewing AI-generated outputs and approving changes.

We believe engineering AI belongs inside the engineering record.

Learn more about Jama Intelligence and what it means for AI adoption in complex, regulated product development.

When you’re evaluating requirements management platforms for a certification-driven aerospace and defense program, an initial demo can make very different options look equally capable.

A polished demo can show you how quickly engineers create requirements, visualize relationships, collaborate, or apply AI. It can’t show you what happens three years into a complex program, when thousands of changes have accumulated across requirements, tests, interfaces, risks, suppliers, and engineering disciplines.

For programs required to follow DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, AS9100, and MOSA, or required to fulfill contractual deliverables, you also need to consider what your organization will be able to demonstrate later.

Can you show how a requirement changed and why? Who reviewed and approved it? What downstream work was affected? What required re-verification, and was that work completed?

The right requirements management platform preserves that evidence as development progresses, rather than leaving teams to reconstruct it when certification activities begin. And that control shouldn’t come at the expense of engineering speed.

For machinery, automation, and robotics manufacturers selling into Europe, two EU regulations now share the same calendar. Reporting obligations under the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) have applied since September 11, 2026. The Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 is scheduled to apply from January 20, 2027, and the remaining CRA obligations follow on December 11, 2027.

Many organizations have responded with two programs, one for functional safety and one for product security. That split is understandable, and it’s expensive. Both regulations expect a traceable line from risk to requirement to verified control, which means a well-designed CRA and Machinery Regulation traceability model prepares you for both at once.

Our semiconductor datasheet management webinar is right around the corner!

Join Steve Rush on October 13 for a practical look at how semiconductor teams can better manage datasheet content as products evolve and requirements change.

We’ll cover:

âś… What an effective datasheet management process looks like
âś… Practical ways to manage changing datasheet content
âś… How to maintain traceability and change control across teams
âś… A working example of datasheet management and export

If datasheet updates are still difficult to track across teams, tools, and product changes, this session is worth adding to your calendar.

A controls engineer pushes a firmware update to the safety controller on a robot cell already running at a customer site. Months later, a market surveillance authority asks which safety functions the update touched, how the software was protected against tampering, and where the record of the change lives.

When safety requirements, software versions, and verification results are linked in advance, those answers come from a query. Without that record, the team rebuilds the history from email threads and shared drives while the request stays open.

On January 20, 2027, the EU Machinery Regulation, formally Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, replaces Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC across the European Union (EU). There’s no grace period for new placements, so machinery placed on the EU market from that date must conform to the regulation. For the first time, EU machinery law treats cybersecurity as a safety requirement and puts safety functions based on machine learning under mandatory third-party assessment.

This blog covers what the regulation requires, who it applies to, how it overlaps with the Cyber Resilience Act, what it means for artificial intelligence (AI) in safety functions, and how to prepare before the application date. Learn more 👉 https://ow.ly/Hlc950ZVbMR

What does it take to build FAA certification readiness into an aerospace program from the start?

As Otto Aerospace develops the Phantom 3500, the team is using Jama Connect® to connect requirements, verification, testing, and certification evidence in one engineering environment.

The result: a scalable foundation for end-to-end traceability and certification readiness as program complexity grows.

09/24/2026

For medical device manufacturers, process validation is often associated with the manufacturing floor. That’s not wrong, but successful medical device process validation starts much earlier, well before a manufacturing team begins executing validation activities.

It begins with the requirements, risks, specifications, and design decisions established during product development, as well as how effectively that information makes its way into manufacturing.

Design transfer, while sometimes mistakenly thought of as a regulatory milestone or documentation exercise, is a critical connection point between R&D and manufacturing.

When traceability stops at that handoff, manufacturing teams can be left reconstructing relationships among design outputs, process requirements, specifications, equipment, risks, and validation activities. That can mean lost context, missing traceability, and risks that are harder to identify before production begins.

The more effective approach is to extend traceability beyond R&D and into manufacturing, creating continuity from concept to development, through manufacturing, all the way to the field.

The January 2026 Artificial Intelligence Strategy for the Department of War sets a demanding delivery standard. Programs are expected to operate with accountable leaders, aggressive schedules, measurable outcomes, rapid iteration, transition-user demonstrations within six months, and monthly progress reviews. The strategy also calls for cycle-time measurement, rapid model updates, modular interfaces, and faster resolution of barriers involving data, authorizations, test and evaluation, certification, and contracting.

Spec-Driven Development, or SDD, can help fill that gap.

In this article, SDD means using a reviewed and versioned specification as the primary input for implementation. The specification brings together requirements, operational context, interfaces, constraints, and acceptance criteria. Code, tests, and an implementation summary return to the same evidence chain. Learn more

Explore how defense software teams can meet aggressive AI delivery goals while maintaining traceability, verification, modularity, and control with SDD.
