I’ve spent A LOT of my career in marketing, and I’ve realized that really good marketing can create some pretty big problems in your business.
Sounds counterintuitive, right? Isn’t the whole point of marketing to bring in more business?
Well, yes. But there’s a pretty big difference between getting MORE business and *actually* having the CAPACITY to support it.
This really clicked for me when I was working for an e-commerce health and wellness startup. I was brought on for social media, but ended up working across marketing, creative direction, operations…a bit of everything (ya know, startup vibes lol). I saw how EVERYTHING connected back to the founder’s vision and how truly interconnected everything was.
Marketing, operations, client experience, strategy…they all influence one another and when one area isn’t working well, you feel it elsewhere. (Kinda like that song about the bones in our body being connected…)
Which brings me back to the whole viral thing.
If 50 new inquiries landed in your inbox tomorrow, would you (or your team, if you have one) know what to do? Could your systems handle it? Could you take them on without losing your sanity or sacrificing their experience?
Or would those injuries mean a heck of a lot more work for you?
After years in business, you get REALLY good at making things work…even when it’s not particularly efficient (or enjoyable).
The onboarding process only you know how to do. The constant stream of questions. The ideas that you’re excited about that keep getting pushed to the back burner…
Eventually, these things barely even register as “problem” anymore; they just come with the territory.
But imagine what you could do with the time and mental energy you’re spending managing allll of that. (Because we both know how waiting for things to “settle down” tends to go 🫠)
Explore ways to work together on my website or send me a message. I’d love to hear a bit more about you and the business you’re building!
