Could we build Data from Star Trek today? 🤖

We already have some of the building blocks: multimodal models can process language, vision, and audio; AI agents can use tools and execute multi-step plans; retrieval systems and knowledge graphs can extend what a model knows.

Building Data would require these components to work as a persistent cognitive system.

The architecture would need long-term episodic and semantic memory, a continuously updated world model, planning across multiple time horizons, reasoning under uncertainty, and verification loops that check conclusions before actions are taken.

It would also need to preserve context and update its internal state as new information arrives without losing consistency over time.

This is one of the most interesting directions in AI systems engineering today: moving from models that respond to individual inputs toward systems that can maintain state, reason, plan, and learn from ongoing interaction.

📍 Two days at IT Arena 2026, with AI taking a big part of the agenda.

Our CTO, Volodymyr Karpliuk, and Head of Recruitment and Partnership, Liudmyla Spilnyk, joined the event in Lviv to meet people across the tech industry, exchange perspectives, and follow the discussions on stage.

Much of the AI agenda focused on a familiar challenge: giving AI a real role in business workflows and enterprise systems. Once AI needs access to company data, APIs, and business logic, permissions, controls, and architecture become very practical concerns.

⚙️ We deal with these questions in our current AI and software engineering work at JetSoftPro. Architecture, integrations, data access, and system controls often determine how far an AI implementation can actually go in production.

It was good to see these engineering questions getting more attention at IT Arena and to exchange perspectives with others working on them. 🤝

Most enterprise software still relies on people to coordinate workflows across applications. 📲

AI agents can take on parts of that work, but giving an LLM access to an API isn't enough to make a system agentic.

The architecture needs to support reasoning, runtime orchestration, context, tool calling, and access to enterprise systems. Once agents can take action, identity, permissions, observability, and human approval become equally important. ✅

Before investing in AI, you have to know **what your existing software can already support and what needs to change.** ⚙️

Imagine you want to add an AI agent that can check an order, update its status, and notify the customer.

For that to work, the agent needs reliable API access to order data, permission to perform specific write operations, and a way to trigger existing business logic without bypassing security rules.

If those capabilities already exist, much of the current system can stay. In other cases, the work may be concentrated around APIs, authentication and permissions, data access, or integration logic.
