We have been having a lot of fun showing off the new 800 series on the 3rd floor of the Vienna High End Show. But we didn’t forget to bring the big stuff too. Check out the Boulder 2160 and 2110 with the new Ymir in H X2, C03/D02 on floor -2!

The 851 monos are the newest amplifiers from Boulder. Delivering peaks of 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms. It is also doing it in pure class A using the Smart Current designs we developed in the new Boulder 1100 series amplifiers. There is a lot of performance and punch in this compact chassis that we think will surprise most. As you can see, we couldn’t add more to this box if we wanted!

Be the first to hear the 851s as we debut the 851 monos on a pair of YG Hailey’s in Room 3.83 at Vienna. No worries if you cannot make the show, these amps will start shipping to your local Boulder partners as soon as next week. The 808 is the newest phono stage in Boulder’s lineup. The 808 takes lessons and experience learned from 40 years of designing phono stages and puts them in a compact chassis that matches the look and multifaceted perks of the rest of the 800 series products. Sharing some of the design philosophy of the 2 phono preamplifiers in the higher line-ups, it improves on the 508 in terms of listening and functionality. Rethinking shielding, ground schemes, and signal path, resulting in an improved sonic performance. It is also more flexible in use by allowing for cartridge loading with a set of ‘Personality Cards’, a mono switch, and a low-cut filter switch.

We are excited to have the world premiere of the 808 at High End Vienna. It will be paired with a Innovation Compact turntable, Boulder 812 DAC preamplifier, and the new Boulder 851 Monos powering Hailey’s.

Better yet, we are excited to have Jason Ford doing an hour presentation each day in our room. He will be showing an incredibly rare selection of pressings through this system you won’t want to miss.

We are excited to announce 2 new products in the 800 series! We are also excited that we will be showing these at High End Vienna next week. Visit us in rooms 3.81 and 3.83 to see and hear these for the first time!

-808 Phono Preamplifier- A phono stage in the 800 series, which is a step up from the 508 and allows for customizable cartridge loading, much like the 1108 and 2108. Toggleable mono and low cut switches.

-851 Mono Amplifier- A 100-watt per channel amp utilizing the Smart Current pure Class A that we use in the 1100 series, but in the same size package as the 861 stereo and 812 DAC preamplifier. The most powerful ‘travel-sized’ Boulder created to date. After first listening, many of the employees and engineers wanted a pair for themselves, and we are excited to finally show them off.

The 1151 Mono power amplifiers were recently reviewed by Image Hifi in Germany. We are very grateful that this publication took the time to listen to our amps and write such a thorough review. Die coolsten Endstufen der Welt?

Das jedenfalls schreibt Uwe Kirbach in der aktuellen Ausgabe von image hifi über die neuen Boulder Amplifiers 1151 Mono-Endstufen. Und wer den ausführlichen Bericht liest, versteht schnell, weshalb er zu dieser Einschätzung gelangt.
Es geht nicht nur um enorme Leistung oder um spektakuläre Verarbeitung. Sondern um etwas deutlich Schwierigeres: die Verbindung aus Kontrolle, räumlicher Präzision, tonaler Selbstverständlichkeit und musikalischem Fluss. Eigenschaften, die selbst bei sehr teuren Transistorverstärkern nur selten gemeinsam auftreten.
Besonders spannend ist dabei Boulders neue „Smart Current“-Technologie, die laut Jeff Nelson klassische Vorstellungen von Class-A-Verstärkern neu denkt – mit hoher Effizienz, minimaler Wärmeentwicklung und dennoch jener klanglichen Geschlossenheit, die viele bislang eher mit Röhrenkonzepten verbunden haben.
Der komplette Testbericht zeigt sehr schön, weshalb Boulder seit Jahrzehnten eine Sonderstellung im High End einnimmt – technisch ebenso wie klanglich.
