🚨 HOME HEALTH UPDATE: NEW CMS GROUPER + ICD-10-CM CHANGES EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026
CMS has released the October 2026 Home Health PPS Grouper Software — Version 07.2.26 — along with the FY 2027 ICD-10-CM diagnosis code updates.
And this isn't just a coding department update.
Diagnosis coding under PDGM can affect:
✓ Clinical Grouping
✓ Comorbidity Adjustments
✓ HIPPS Code Assignment
✓ Claim Processing
✓ Medicare Reimbursement
WHAT'S CHANGING?
CMS reports no Grouper logic or interface changes for v07.2.26, but the tables impacting grouping logic and HIPPS assignments have been updated.
The October update includes:
🔹 New diagnosis codes and their clinical group/comorbidity assignments
🔹 Deleted diagnosis codes, where applicable
🔹 Diagnosis description changes
🔹 Unacceptable principal diagnosis changes
🔹 Unspecified diagnosis code changes
🔹 Code First diagnosis changes
📅 EFFECTIVE DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2026
Home health agencies should begin preparing now.
Clinical, coding, QA, billing, and administrative teams should understand how the updated ICD-10-CM codes may affect patients with periods of care beginning on or after October 1.
At Finale Health, we're reviewing the latest CMS Grouper and ICD-10-CM updates to help our agencies stay current with changing Medicare requirements.
Because your EMR shouldn't just document care.
It should help connect documentation, coding, PDGM, billing, and reimbursement.
