When AI can act, who holds the authority?
As AI moves beyond generating answers and begins taking actions, that question has real implications for Tribal Digital Sovereignty: Who controls Tribal data? Whose rules govern its use? And who determines what AI is permitted to do?
Today, Tribal Ready, PBC and AI Planet™ announce a strategic collaboration to advance the Sovereignty Keeper™ (SKAI) — an AI-powered governance capability developed to help Tribal Nations protect their data, enforce their own laws and policies, and maintain authority over how AI operates within their digital environments.
Together with Tribal Ready’s Sovereign Digital Hub™, SKAI brings AI-ready infrastructure and governance together around Tribal priorities — including jurisdiction, data protection, environmental stewardship and long-term economic interests.
The principle behind the work is fundamental: Tribal Nations should not have to surrender control of their data or decision-making authority to participate fully in the AI economy. As AI becomes capable not only of answering questions but of taking actions, human beings and the communities they are responsible to must remain the source of authority.
For Tribal Nations, the opportunity is not simply to adopt AI, but to help establish the conditions under which it operates.
