Support is the part of a software relationship you use every month, and the part every demo skips.

Worth asking any vendor: Do I reach a named person or a queue? Do they know my entity and my fiscal calendar before I explain it? Can they talk through an accounting question, not just a software one?

Then ask what the average tenure is on their support team. Almost nobody does, and the number tells you a lot.
