Upgrading an old (2007) iMac with a brand new ssd. This is the fastest this computer has ever been.

Most people see a dead hard drive.
Mark sees traces, chips, voltages, and possibilities.

This recovery attempt involved soldering a BIOS chip directly onto a hard drive motherboard to try and bring the drive back to life long enough to recover the customer’s data. Tiny components, steady hands, and a deep understanding of electronics.

Mark is our electronic engineer and honestly, watching him work feels like watching surgery for computer hardware. Around the shop we call him “The Iron Man” because that soldering iron basically lives in his hand. 🔥

Being able to perform these repairs in-house can save our customers a huge amount of time and money before needing more advanced clean-room recovery options.

Hard drive recovery is never guaranteed, but having someone like Mark on the bench gives these drives a fighting chance.

Also yes… I made an AI song for this video because apparently AI has become the toy I never want to put down. 😂

Some shops fix laptops.
We prefer to help them discover who they really are… on the inside. 😅
Sometimes you have to bring out the best parts in a laptop one piece at a time. Motherboard therapy session was successful.

Got a pretty awesome close-up of a Yellow Ferrari F8 Tributo today 😍. Even got to check out the key, which was secured with a zip tie… so yeah, even Ferrari owners trust the universal “this ain’t going anywhere” solution

Sometimes you don’t fix it… you rebuild it from zero.

This one rolled in with the CPU block completely off the CPU 😬
Bracket? Sitting at the bottom of the case like it gave up.
Half the screws? Gone.
Fans? Fighting physics in the wrong direction.

So yeah… we didn’t “repair” it.
We rescued it.

Tore it down.
Rebuilt it right.
Now it actually performs like it’s supposed to.

Moral of the story:
Just because it turns on… doesn’t mean it’s built right.
