😄 Looking ahead, 'gently' experimental fonts are forecasted to be more prominent, especially as brands are looking to set themselves apart. Experimental fonts, like this fun font called 'Rich Punk', are best used as a display font. In other words, they are most effective as headlines or short tag lines, due to their unusual letter forms.

As we get closer to the end of 2023, I like to look ahead at what will be happening in the design world. 😄 We'll probably be seeing more and more 1970s-inspired fonts, like Beaufort from . I personally have a lot of nostalgia for the 70s, even though I was just a tiny kid then. I'm looking forward to using more of these fun, throwback typefaces in the future!

I created a quick and business card for a notary based in California. The parameters were to include pink and gold (my client's two favorite colors) and a quill. As usual takes several tries (as you can see- and the pain of trying to get the perfect squiggle!) 😆 but the end result was exactly what she was looking for. It's ! To kick it off, let's focus on the much despised Comic Sans (obligatory link to this gem: https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/im-comic-sans-asshole). I don't like it; most other designers dislike it. BUT- it's an excellent font for early readers and dyslexics because very few repeated letter shapes, and the letters themselves appear to have more space around them. For 40 years, House of Bread has provided warm, delicious lunches in a caring environment for those in need. I was honored to design a special 40th anniversary in honor of their decades of service. The guidelines were something of a challenge- circular, with some kind of reference to fresh produce, and maintain the original logo. After some experimenting, we landed on this colorful and friendly design. For consistency, I used the font from the original logo throughout.
