You can get hacked just by visiting a web page. No clicking required.

In June 2026, Google put out an emergency Chrome update to fix a flaw (CVE-2026-11645) attackers were already exploiting. The flaw's in Chrome itself, so just visiting a malicious web page is enough to get hit.

This is one of several Chrome flaws attackers have exploited in 2026.

Updating takes 30 seconds. Click the three dots in the top right of Chrome, go to Help, then About Google Chrome. Chrome will update automatically once you open that page, then click Relaunch to finish. Do the same in Microsoft Edge, which runs on the same engine and needs the same fix. And if your IT provider manages your updates, ask them to confirm this one's done.

Browser updates only take effect after you restart, and a lot of us leave Chrome open for weeks. So restart it today.

Google released security updates for 74 Chrome vulnerabilities, including CVE-2026-11645, a high-severity V8 out-of-bounds memory access flaw.

Think restarting your PC fixes everything? Think again. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ”„

Letโ€™s bust a few common IT myths that could leave your business vulnerable:

โŒ MYTH #1: Restarting your PC fixes everything.
โœ… FACT: Restarting can help, but issues like malware or outdated software may need deeper attention.

โŒ MYTH #2: Stronger Wi-Fi means youโ€™re always secure.
โœ… FACT: A strong signal doesnโ€™t mean a secure network. Always use strong passwords and keep your network protected.

โŒ MYTH #3: You only need backups if youโ€™ve been hacked.
โœ… FACT: Backups protect you from more than hackers, like hardware failure, human errors, or natural disasters.

Donโ€™t just trust the myth. Trust the facts. ๐Ÿ’ก

Starting in August 2026, the EU has new rules about labeling AI-generated content, and they could apply to your business even if you're not based in Europe.

If you use AI to create content the public sees, things like images, videos, or text, and you have customers in the EU, you may need to make clear when something was made or heavily changed by AI, depending on the specific role you play and the type of content involved.

It's worth checking whether it applies to you rather than assuming it does or doesn't.

Look at where you're already using AI in your marketing or customer-facing material, and start labeling anything that needs it.

If you're not sure whether the rules apply to you, that's a quick conversation with whoever handles your legal side.

Better to sort this out now than scramble when a customer or regulator asks.

This code of practice supports compliance with the AI Act transparency obligations related to marking and labelling of AI-generated content.

Think your password is strong enough? It might be time for a checkup.
Your passwords are one of your first lines of defense against unauthorized access. A few simple habits can make a big difference:
๐Ÿ”‘ Go long โ€” Aim for 12โ€“16+ characters.
๐Ÿ”ค Mix it up โ€” Use uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
๐Ÿšซ Keep passwords unique โ€” Never reuse the same password across accounts.
๐Ÿ‘ค Skip personal details โ€” Avoid birthdays, names, phone numbers, or company information.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Turn on MFA โ€” Add another layer of protection even if your password is compromised.
Strong password habits are simple, but they can go a long way toward protecting your personal and business accounts.
๐Ÿ“ฃ Share this with your team and make password security a business-wide habit.

Quick reminder: Your internet provider shouldnโ€™t be your IT department. ๐Ÿšจ

Weโ€™ve seen too many businesses get burned by ordering phone or network equipment directly from their internet service provider.

Internet providers are great at providing internetโ€”but that doesnโ€™t necessarily mean theyโ€™re the right choice for selecting, configuring, and supporting your business technology.

๐Ÿ“ž Phone systems need reliable support.
๐ŸŒ Network equipment needs proper configuration.
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Your technology needs fast, dependable service when something goes wrong.

Before you order your next piece of business technology, talk to your IT provider first. The right equipment and setup can save you headaches, downtime, and unnecessary expenses.

Not sure what equipment your business needs? TechNet Computing can help you choose the right solution.
