📣 Update on Sales Tax for Web Design by Dave (Connecticut Clients)

⚠️ May 2026 Update:
After receiving additional clarification directly from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS), I’m updating how sales tax is handled for services provided by Web Design by Dave.

Under current Connecticut rules, many website-related services — including website design, development, website maintenance, and certain technical services — may be classified as “computer and data processing services” and may be subject to Connecticut’s reduced 1% sales tax rate when the benefit of the service is received in Connecticut.

Certain products and third-party services may still be subject to Connecticut’s standard 6.35% sales tax rate, including:
🔹 Domain name registrations purchased on your behalf
🔹 Hosting services resold on your behalf
🔹 Software licenses, premium themes, or plugins
🔹 Certain digital products or physical equipment

Going forward:
🔹 New Connecticut clients may see applicable sales tax added to invoices where required by state law.
🔹 Existing clients will continue under their current billing structure through the remainder of 2026. Any future billing updates for ongoing clients will be communicated well in advance.

For clients located outside Connecticut, Connecticut sales tax generally does not apply unless otherwise required by law.

Qualified nonprofit organizations with valid exemption certificates will not be charged sales tax on taxable items.

My goal is to keep everything straightforward, transparent, and aligned with current Connecticut tax guidance while continuing to make things as simple as possible for clients.

🚨 Website Status Update 🚨
