Ever send an email to a business and wonder if it disappeared into a black hole? 🕳️😂

I never want my clients wondering that.

Sometimes I’ll answer an email at 5:30 in the morning. Sometimes I’m updating a website at 8:30 at night with whatever football game I can find playing in the background.

And sometimes I’m out hiking and your email will have to wait a bit. 😉

But I’ll always get back to you as soon as I can.

Good communication matters to me. Those little touch points are a big part of what Touch Point Designs is all about.

This week’s office view. 🏔️💻

One of the things I’m grateful for about what I do is that, every once in a while, my home office can have wheels.

This week I’ve been working from the camper van while exploring the Seeley Lake area. Same clients. Same websites. Same workday.

Just a considerably better view out the window. 😂

I love the Bitterroot Valley, but getting out and seeing a little more of this ridiculously beautiful state isn’t too bad either.

Not a bad commute. 😉

Ever open a restaurant menu with 147 choices and suddenly forget what food you even like? 😂

Websites can do the same thing.

More buttons. More paragraphs. More services. More photos. More things competing for attention.

Sometimes the best thing I can do for a website isn’t add something.

It’s take something away.

Give people fewer, clearer choices and make it easy to decide what to do next.

One of my favorite client requests starts with:

“Hey Cody, can you change something really quick?” 😊

A new photo. Updated hours. A wording change. A new employee. Whatever it is.

Most of the time, the answer is simply: Yep. I got you.

That’s one of the benefits of working directly with your web designer. You know exactly who to call.

And apparently that still applies when your web designer is working out of the back of a camper van somewhere in Montana with satellite internet. 😂🏔️💻

Something you may not know about your web designer…

I have absolutely no desire to build a big web design agency. 😏

Touch Point Designs has always been intentionally small.

When you hire me, you get… well, me. 😂

I get to know you, learn your business, design your website, and be the person you call when you need something. And quite often, my good wife Paige is somewhere behind the scenes helping too. ❤️

After all these years, the relationships I’ve built with local business owners are still one of my favorite parts of this job.

I don’t want hundreds of clients I barely know.

I like knowing who I’m working for.

💡 One Thing I’ve Learned: Your website isn’t for you.

There. I said it. 😂

You may love that clever headline, favorite photo, or flashy animation.

But I’m usually asking a different question:

What does your CUSTOMER need?

Can they quickly understand what you do, find what they need, and know what to do next?

Your website should absolutely feel like your business.

It just needs to work for your customer. 😉

The glamorous side of web design. 😎

I’ve been getting a few new clients set up with the behind-the-scenes stuff that has to happen before I can actually start designing.

There are plenty of options out there, but I’ve used Hosting.com for about a decade and it’s still my preference for both hosting and domains.

The good news for my clients? I try to make this part as painless as possible, and once it’s set up, they’ll rarely need to think about it again.

Which is good… because now we can get to the fun part.
