🚙 Three Forks, Montana is one of those small towns that just looks good from every angle.

In the foreground, you’ve got the historic Sacajawea Hotel. Just beyond it, that little triangle park where the streets split gives downtown its own unique personality. And then there are those mountains stretching across the horizon… because Montana apparently doesn’t believe in subtle backgrounds. 😄🏔️

It’s quiet, scenic, and full of the kind of small-town character that makes you want to slow down and look around a little longer.

❤️ Our hearts are with every community affected by the wildfires burning across the western United States.

So many of the places we feature aren’t just dots on a map—they’re homes. They’re family-owned restaurants, small motels, local museums, Main Streets, hiking trails, and neighbors looking out for one another.

If you’re traveling this season, please check local conditions before you go. Some communities need visitors to stay away for now so emergency crews can do their work. Others are still open and would truly appreciate your support.

Small towns have always been resilient. When the smoke clears, they’ll be ready to welcome us back with the same warmth and hospitality they’ve always offered.

Until then, we’re keeping everyone in our thoughts and hoping for cooler temperatures, soaking rain, and the safety of every firefighter and resident. ❤️

☀️ Summer in a small town just hits different.

The windows are down. The ice cream stand has a line. Kids are riding bikes until dark. And somewhere, there’s a local festival, farmers market, or little downtown event bringing the whole community together.

These are the places that don’t always make the travel magazines… but somehow end up becoming the trips you remember most. 🚙

If it wasn't for the lack of waves, I would have guessed this was the ocean. 😮

I still can't wrap my head around just how BIG Lake Michigan is!! I also love this shot because it looks like a fun summertime picture with school out and the kids just hanging out on the pier.

Well that's something you don't see every day ... a giant root beer barrel that serves hot dogs and some of the best root beer floats I've ever had!

Located just off the beaten path in Douglas, MI on the east side of Lake Michigan.

I've visited a LOT of small towns in my travels - but I've never experienced anything like my time in Cassopolis, MI. What made it unique? I got a personal tour of the town, along with historical information, updates on their lakeside improvements, and so much more from Tonia from the village office. It was so amazing. I learned a lot and took a number of pictures that I'm excited to use in an upcoming tourism website for Cassopolis. Stay tuned!
